South Carolina

We have a sussex ( who's wings are already all feathered and very pretty ) a buff orington, a black chick ( not sure of breed to be honest, may be a orpington ) and then our Swedish Blue duck.

The bins at the feedstore were mislabeled so I had to do some fingerwork online to find pictures of chicks that matched mine. I wish I could put up pics for everyone to see and give me opinions on.

I have a few Partridge Rocks and they're nice. My EE are very sweet. I just reach up under them in the nest box and collect eggs. They never peck me. Have you thought about getting a few silkies? My kids adore them. Big farm muppets.

On another topic, I need an egg intervention. My mail lady just rang the doorbell with a huge box of hatching eggs. I totally forgot about them. Then I saw the enclosed invoice and what I paid (don't ask - way too much) and had a word with myself about being scatterbrained. Guess chicks hatching and silkies arriving were all I could handle today! Now I have 19 beautiful lavender ameraucana eggs safely in the bator. With the 12 lav ameraucana eggs I set yesterday. I might have to make a new coop just for these lavs. I have about 55 in the other incubator. Might be selling some chicks in a few weeks!

Actually, yes I have thought about a silkie or 2.

WOW! That's how I am with my horses. Just when I think I have what and who I want, I go and get a 3rd, completely unhandled adopted colt! Since horses are so expensive I need to start a new hobby, can we say chickens?
When you say lavender, you mean the color of the eggs or.... ( again newbie so please forgive my ignorance on egg color )

The chickens! Ameraucanas lay blue eggs no matter what color the feathers are. Lavender Ameraucanas are a project color and then eggs are a bit more green than the other colors, but they're gorgeous birds. Slate legs, beautiful muffs, very friendly. I love them!

Love my Partridge Rocks! Several girls are going on 4 years old and still laying well! Very personable and friendly. They love to talk with us about the amount worms we dig up for them.

I bought Easter Egger hatching eggs from you at the Morganton show and I just had to tell you that EVERY LAST ONE hatched! As in, no candling, no removing of any eggs, EVERY SINGLE ONE HATCHED and are just as cute and rambunctious as they can be! Obviously a great testament to how healthy and happy your chickens are!! I'm splitting the hatch with another local woman, she's coming by today with her toddler to pick out her babies. She's never had chickens before and is SO excited!

THANK YOU!!

How wonderful for you! I am so glad you got a great hatch. Those EE's do hatch amazingly well! I swear I set 12 eggs and get 24 chicks! LOL
I know you will enjoy all the beauty that will grow up out of these babies and the eggs will be fabulous!
Thank you for letting me know.
