Oh, she would continue to set all right!
Mine are broody for the third time this year. And I have my buff Mottled project Cochin girls broody for week #7. I am going to have to break them so they don't get so weak. Though I am feeding them starter it isn't good for their kidneys to take in so much protein for a long period of time. They need fresh air and sunshine, along with good exercise.

I have 2 RIR hens broody right now. One is only a year old and the other is 2 yrs old. I haven't let them hatch since they are in my free range egg flock but they are killing me with not laying those big beautiful brown eggs.

I must rename this place! Broody Butt Farm! Geez!

I have a styrofoam Genesis 1588 and have been running it almost non stop for 18 months now. I use it as a hatcher because my big Sportsman can hold so many eggs but it holds the temps great and hatches with perfection. Not so easy to clean but I hate to clean about anything.
I am also hatching out of a Lil Giant styrofoam bator that belongs to a friend. It is a still air and Chickychickybaby helped me with it. She and her DH hatch with them and offered plenty of advice. So now I have Guinea eggs set in it. I can't get my friend to take it back now that I have hatched successfully in it. It really isn't as hard as all that but I prefer the forced air.

DD has a slight cold right now. Maybe allergies. She won't eat as much honey as me and I told her that may help. She prefers chocolate. So when Mary's bees start producing chocolate honey I might get her to consume more for allergy problems. However, it could just be a slight cold.

I bet your little bat is adorable! I have always liked bats but I do not think I would help raise one. I wasn't much for helping with the chimney sweeps people would bring in to the clinic for us to raise. I can do Robins and Mockingbirds though without much problem.

Definitely get your rabies vax! If you work in a clinic it is a must. We did not have an option. It was a requirement because of all the creatures brought in. My vet was so great with animals (horrid with people, that is why I was there!

) that rescues were always sent to her. That woman can handle animals with such ease and grace. A real gift.
Last time my titer was checked I still had a high number and it has been 15 years. I meant to have one checked on my DD since I was feeding her when I had them. I know I spout off not liking human medicine very much but rabies is not something to joke around with.

I hope you get better quickly.

Ouch!!!! What kinda bee was it?? I had to just kill a yellow hornet nest on my front porch~ felt kinda bad but they can't move in that close to me!

Only a wasp........ if it had been hornet or red wasp or yellow jacket.....I would have been in ER..

Are you allergic? I know I am!!! Why would a wasp be different than the others~ do they carry more venom?

Kinda feel bad. Haven't fed the bat in 24 hours but it's kind of important for me to not handle it at the moment. I might sneeze and get bat formula in my face or something! Ahg! Yeah my husband picked the bat off the ground with his bare hands. *slaps forehead* thankfully he wasn't bit or scratched or slobbered. It actually fell out our neighbors roof. He needs an exterminator! I would like to get vaccinated and my husband to for future findings. We always have baby creatures here.

I've been bit before by a sick cat. The cat was euthanized and the owner elected to give us the remains and we had to send the cats head to DHEC because it wasn't vaccinated. Felt so bad. This was years ago when I first started my job. Cat had leukemia and aids come to find out (obviously not rabid). I'm still alive I think. *sneezes in bed*

Nope. Did not have to use it! I think the darn allergy shots I did couple yrs ago actually started helping delay or stop my reactions.

I hate those darn pens........stupid things HURT. Almost as bad as a sting!

I ran in and did my grandma's old treatment, baking soda & water in a paste - and an ice pack - and a childrens benadryl premeasured dose thingy.

I got a little sick feeling, but laid down until it passed.....no throat swelling this time!

Last time I got stung - it was UGLY.

She is here on BYC as SouthernBeeLady. She owns Honey Blossom Farm in Pickens SC. Her phone number on the jars is 864-878-4273.

If her other honey is a fantastic as her creamed honey then it is well worth the drive. However, she travels a bit around it seems to different cities for one reason or another so maybe she will head your way at some point and can meet you. I know she said something about going to a Poultry show but can't remember exactly what she said about it.
You all need to come down here in November for the bantam show in Clemson anyhow and stock up then.

I bought 6 or 7 jars from her about 6 weeks ago. Though I have shared a few jars and put some in the raffle at a show, I am on my last jar and will need to contact Mary for more fabulous honey very soon.

Thanks for Mary's number I need some honey to!!!

If you were closer I offer some mille fleur d'uccle eggs. Last night I hard boiled a dozen and now have them in my fridge for the perfect bite sized snack!

I had my first broody last month, and it was her first time too. She sat on 9 eggs but half were clear and the other half had started to develop and then-

I took them all away after day 26. Maybe we'll have better luck next time.
