you learn something new everyday! When and if I get an incubator what should I put in it??? So many options! I was actually thinking Mille fleurs. But I don't know. Hmmm.

That would be nice if hubby would take care of them chores! And that's interesting about the bat, did you just find it in the yard? I remember when we were kids in Florida we had a bat that was clinging to our screen it was so neat looking. Definately be careful~ can you post any pics of it?? Haha my curiosity gets the best of me

Are you allergic? I know I am!!! Why would a wasp be different than the others~ do they carry more venom?

Yeah I have been allergic to bee stings since I was little.

I have no clue why some are different. My worst reactions have always been to the reddest colored wasps. the brownish ones, not so much. I just thought one was male & one female, but the allergy doc was going to test for both so I guess it is two different ones.

Now that I think of it, I have always been a barefoot baby. I hate shoes. I remember playing in the yard at different houses & such when I was little, and NEVER got bit by any kind of fire ant. Where did those suckers come from?

Kinda feel bad. Haven't fed the bat in 24 hours but it's kind of important for me to not handle it at the moment. I might sneeze and get bat formula in my face or something! Ahg! Yeah my husband picked the bat off the ground with his bare hands. *slaps forehead* thankfully he wasn't bit or scratched or slobbered. It actually fell out our neighbors roof. He needs an exterminator! I would like to get vaccinated and my husband to for future findings. We always have baby creatures here.

I've been bit before by a sick cat. The cat was euthanized and the owner elected to give us the remains and we had to send the cats head to DHEC because it wasn't vaccinated. Felt so bad. This was years ago when I first started my job. Cat had leukemia and aids come to find out (obviously not rabid). I'm still alive I think. *sneezes in bed*

I bet your little bat is adorable! I have always liked bats but I do not think I would help raise one. I wasn't much for helping with the chimney sweeps people would bring in to the clinic for us to raise. I can do Robins and Mockingbirds though without much problem.

Definitely get your rabies vax! If you work in a clinic it is a must. We did not have an option. It was a requirement because of all the creatures brought in. My vet was so great with animals (horrid with people, that is why I was there!

) that rescues were always sent to her. That woman can handle animals with such ease and grace. A real gift.
Last time my titer was checked I still had a high number and it has been 15 years. I meant to have one checked on my DD since I was feeding her when I had them. I know I spout off not liking human medicine very much but rabies is not something to joke around with.

I hope you get better quickly.

Being sick in the summer can be such a pain!


So that's how you found the bat! And the cat was really sick~ scary. What's with all the animals with this aids virus~ now they have horses at risk everywhere.

I stuck her in the brooder with some babies that are only a few days old. I will see how that goes.

Heck I have two wannabe broodies that have never laid an egg

Larkspur sorry you are sick.......and a bat is something I would not even attempt to care for. DD might, but not me.

Strange about the bee thing~ I'll have to do some research. I know the ants are hideous!!! I posted a thread on here a few days trying to find ways to get rid of them!! So far Grits help some~ and I plan on trying DE Food grade on them, and some other tactics! It's actually kinda neat all the ideas some people came up with, what works, what doesn't. I definately think ants have the upper hand on us~ hopefully they won't take over the earth

I always offer food and water right from the start. They often will eat and drink some. Mostly they like to play with food as it is natural for them to always be pecking at something. When underneath mama hen they are pecking at her feathers and feet, each others eyes and the nesting or ground.

Come see me anytime. It is a mad house here most of the time but there is a lot to see. Plan to spend about 2 hours. That is how long most first visits go when we walk around and look at all the birds.

If anyone needs little chicks, I have some buff Orps for sale. They came from Strombergs as I had someone wanting them but then backed out. I ordered pullets so chances are good. They are a week old and I think I have 4 or 5.

I no longer let anyone into my brooder room and soon may not allow tours around the pens. I get more and more visitors that will not control their children. And the other day actually had a grown man that was worse than any kid. He didn't seem mentally challenged but I began to wonder. They will not be allowed on my property again. I do not tolerate such rude and inconsiderate behavior. And then to be such novices (though one tried to tell me he had been big in chickens for many years.

) they had the gall to tell me I didn't know my breeds when I have raised and researched them. I was steaming, I assure you.

I'll try to post pics later of the bat. Lol. I just don't feel like sitting at the computer. But looks like I have to go to work for a few hours this afternoon. Waiting to hear back from my coworker. Really should be at home though not sitting at a desk infecting people with germs
