And some say if you cull the whole flock, you are supposed to not have any birds for so long afterwards due to it being in soil, houses etc....but I think that is not necessary unless fighting some thing like Newcastle Disease.

HOWEVER I would think your birds have infectious bronchitis since several are getting sick.

Several diseases may fit the symptoms.... Like laryngotracheitis

One thing I hate about shows......the chances of catching something! I KNOW everyone is not as weird as I am. I have shoes for TSC & Feed store, Shoes for my yard & my normal shoes. I will wear normal shoes to someone's house or shows, but throw them in washer before wearing anywhere else, unless I am making several stops that day, then I do it when I can, - hot soapy wash.....even my rubber flip flops!

very good idea about different shoes.. and also in doing so I can protect other people too by not wearing shoes that have been on my property... its kind of like kennel cough at dog shows.. is there any vaccine you can give chickens for respiratory stuff.?

IDK

I would just treat with antibiotics.

And about those I am clueless. Amy may know. DH would if he weren't in the bed. Of course with DH, it is usually penicillin for most things with our goats etc

EtA: I don't vaccinate.

I have a broody silkie. Another hen never laid in the same box as Betty until Betty became broody. Then each time Betty would leave the nest, the other would run in and lay an egg.

I had marked all the eggs when she started sitting, so I removed the unmarked eggs & moved Betty to her own home

Or you could try to bribe the other to lay in a different nest with a golf ball.

broody hen is a hen that is sitting on a nest of eggs to incubate them.

Straight run is when you order chicks and they come as a mix of male and female, you can also order sexed chicks

ETA: sometimes the hen sits on a nest with no eggs too.......
