Sorry for the delay, lost power yesterday, then I couldnt get on BYC. We currently have production reds, and guineas. I am seriously looking at the Wyandotte breed. I just want to be sure we have a secure set up before adding to many chickens.

Nadine~ Are Guinea's really loud like the Peacocks? Haha I wish I could get away with a Peacock~ my neighbor's would kill me... but they are so pretty!! I saw this beautiful white one and it's tail feathers were so amazing it was as if they sparkled... such a stunning and fascinating creature. One of these days I'll will have a great big giant piece of land to have a collection of them! Well glad you have a random houseguest

How cool is that he just shows up in your yard~ What does he look like?? I'll keep my fingers crossed for those wandering peacocks on their way to your house...

Good Morning Everyone! It actually felt really nice outside yesterday afternoon and this morning~ thanks to a lovely breeze! I picked up some corkscrew grass, pink jasmine, and some other flowering plants yesterday and I got them all planted. Now I just have to keep it watered everyday but the garden is looking so pretty~ If I have my way my house is going to be covered in pretty vines and flowers all year round. LOL I have to go back to lowes this morning I called them back after I got home yesterday just curious what kind of sheet vinyl flooring they had and of they had any clearenced and they did!! So she is holding it for me I will be picking that up this am after the children arise. It's marked down to $16.99 and normally I'd pay about $35-$40 for it! So that's a savings I'm happy about. I have to get working on the coop again~ After the storm the other day the chickens are back in my family room, they are really confused because they think they are suppose to live in the house. They stand at the sliding glass door looking at me... with an expression like *let me in*

So this afternoon I'll be in the garage attaching the walls and doing the finishing touches~ then prime and paint! This weekend I should be able to finish it. The children go to their father's house which leave me with LOTS of downtime to finish this up!! You all have a good day

What state biosecurity officer did you talk to? So all these major hatcheries that are practicing extensive biosecurity measures are wasting all their time and effort? Sorry...I think that the person you talked to did not know what he was talking about. Everything I have learned since those sick chicks were sold to me is that recovered birds CAN be carriers, but it depends on what they were sick with. And without pathology being done, you have no way of knowing if the birds had one of the bad viruses or a less lethal one.

HEY EVERYONE!!! Renegaderidgefarm and myself are wanting to put together another meet/swap in Columbia. I've gotten the rodeo schedule from them, and based on when my SS and Dels should be laying I'm thinking of Saturday August 6th @ the Irmo TSC. We had a decent turn out last time back in April, but hopefully this time we can have even more ppl and more things for sell or trade. Also, I think last time it came up that the TSC employees wanted to be aware of our swap so they could post something in the store for their customers...which in turn is good for us sellers.

PLEASE JOIN THE CHATTER AND LETS GET THIS MEET-UP READY TO GO!!!!

Hey Pinkwindsong ~ Have you ever heard of using Oxine for treating and curing respiratory sickness in chickens!!! I just came acros alot of info on it~http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/oxine.htm Check it out and see what you think. Maybe this is something worth looking at for any future coughs or sneezes. They sell this at amazon and had lots of awesome reviews from poultry owners. Good for you~ everyone has their opinions

Are you really?! How cool! We're about 20 minutes south of Simpsonville- near The Happy Cow. My kids go to Fork Shoals, so we are in the very southernmost tip of the county. Well, one of my kids goes to Fork Shoals- the other will start 3rd grade at the Charles Townes Center at Sterling in August. I have a smarty-pants 8 year old!

We are very excited although it is going to be a loooong haul for us all the way to Sterling 5 days a week.
