Storms have been bad all around. I live in Six Mile over next to Duke Power Plant. Me and the dog have the closet all ready for us. There have been a few really scarey storms over here, but so far no damage in my area. Only few branches that I have seen on my way to work. I live in a small cinder block house on slab foundation that has been around since 1953. Hope it hangs on till I leave this world. But don't wont to leave this world in a storm. I have 27 chickens. Two roosters, seven grown hens and the rest young pullets. I have been trying to download on here without success. I have three little chickens that came in with some ducks at the feed store, I bought them and have no idea what kind. S0 I was trying to get them uploaded here. Maybe I will have some success soon. hubby brought home a baby hawk. looked like a little round fuzzy baseball with a mouth. 2 ladies were trying to catch it because it was in the middle of the street. He coaxed it into the box and we called the foothills wild animal rescue. As a really cool "coincidence" the lady was returning to SC from NC about 2 exits away from us (on I-85) and met us at the burger king and took it home to the rescue center. How awesome was that.
We called a vet and they said they couldn't touch it by law. But gave us the name of the rescue. How crazy is that. It would have died had it not been for the Foothills Rescue.

Hi, I'm in Charleston, SC. New to Backyard chickens. Having a problem with possible 3 roosters in a flock of only 7. Need to find at least two of them a good home. 5 months old, One is a EE & One RIR. I'll try to post some pics.

So, let's turn all of this hawk talk into something productive.....
How or where do I get a permit. I for sure need one!! Heck, I was just happy to find out that I could shoot them (with a permit of course).

I'm pretty sure you can since the Farmer's around me have all gotten permission from the local game warden. Just check with the game warden in your area. They cannot be killed for sport (so I don't think you need a permit) but the Game Warden can give permission if the hawk is a nuisance and is killing livestock and costing the Farmer money. At least that is how it was explained to me.​

I do have friends around close that have had issues with hawks and I was told that they had permission to protect their livestock. If I am wrong about that, I am sorry. Amy, that picture of the Mama duck is too funny! Great shot, I love it. And I'm so sorry about your A/C. I sure hope they get it fixed today for you and it's not too expensive. We usually have A/C issues every July. NOT fun, fingers crossed we skip this year. We had issues back in the spring and right now everything is working great. I hope that was my A/C problem for the year.

I hope it's true! We just called the Clemson office of the DNR to find out but had to leave a message. I definitely do have a hawk problem.

On a positive note, my lavender silkies started laying yesterday! Finally!!!!!!
