This is a little closer look at how my DH made it so I can divide the sections.

Of course everything has to be made snake proof, even with all the guineas I have running around. That is why he put two layers of wire on each end and I slide a thin board across the opening to close it. A snake would have to work pretty hard to get in to the keets. The floor is 1/4" hardware cloth with 1/2 hardware cloth all around and on top.

I am supposed to use water?

Just kidding.....seriously I don't usually in summer.....but my incubator is in bedroom & the bathroom window stays open all the time so the humidity is usually OK.... I do in winter because it just seems the house is drier. I use less water for days 1-17

Yup!! Doing that rt now. Humidity ranges from 35- 40% without adding water. Ive candled several times, and everything seems to be developing on schedule. No problems. The reason I chose to do it this time was b/c when it came time to add more water, I had trouble getting it to increase enough. My thinking is there should most def be an increase in humidity when going from zero to some vs. some to more.

Also depends on the incubator

I didn't put water in mine either. Set this batch June 20 th and they are developing just fine from what I can tell- It's my first time

I had to take the water out because the humidity was staying at 65%. Without the water it's staying at 40 %. I plan to add water the last three days.

the only time my humidity is 65% is hatching duck eggs.....

For chickens, it stays around 15%-25% until day 17 then I up it to at least 50%

In the midst of the heat, we will be trying to build the permanent roosts in the coop and, most importantly, the run! The chicks are ready to go outside. Last night we gave them pieces of spaghetti and Lou Ann and I laughed so hard. I never knew how great these chicks could be for relaxing at the end of a work day. I'm not sure how long it took for one of them to finally eat a noodle and not just run around with it. I'll post some pictures of the run when it is finished.
If anyone lives near Haywood Rd, their are usually fireworks near Butler Springs Park on July 4th. They are shot off in the ball field behind our church. Someone in the neighborhood there does a phenomenal job. We are talking thousands of dollars worth of fireworks. Not a wimpy show at all. It usually starts around 9:30 or so.

We normally go into a half built neighborhood about 2/3 of the way up Paris Mtn to watch the fireworks. You can normally see the oes in downtown Greenville, Greer, and Saluda! It's really cool to watch the fireworks from over them, totally different perspective.

LOL
I will probably find Langshans out wearing them later this morning.
Can you see the look on his face. "Shoes? What shoes?"
hu.gif

That or one of the ducks took them! Like the one in the brush pile we took the babies from! "Take my babies, I take your shoes! So there!"

It is so terrific to have friends come help with painting and chores! I have some of the nicest friends ever!!!!

If I find your shoes i will save them for you! Don't worry! They will be the ones with the mint green paint on them, right?

How are the ducky babies doing this morning? That one Runner was getting stronger! I can't believe it. I just knew it was going to croak. It had a hard birth.
