Welcome to the world of chicken dealing!!! Joy has actually put up a sign now and I will probably go the same direction but it really doesn't get much better. I am constantly telling parents to please not to let their children chase my chickens or ducks. But I realize that not everyone raises their children the way I did mine. I am like you, I would have tore her fanny up if she was rude at anyone else's home.
I am amazed at how people young and old can act when visiting. I should hope I am not ever out of line at anyone's home or farm. I try to treat everyone with respect and always hope for the same. Alas, it is not to be. The world has many different kinds of people and we learn to cope with what we get.

I know exactly how you feel. I had pretty much the same thing happen....bad kids and chasing my flock. From then on, I either meet them at a neutral site or make sure its adults only. If they have kids, I have my wife (pre-k teacher) entertain them while I conduct business.

A lot of children are not taught to respect animals. And are allowed to act like heathens! To go to ANYONE'S house and allow kids to act like that,

You must have been too nice.

Adults wonder what is wrong with society - well there is part of the problem- raise your kids correctly and with manners!

I am a firm believer in giving discipline, teaching actions have consequences, teaching responsibility, and showing a kid it is loved!

I have NO problem smacking a kid's bottom even if it is not my kid.

Parents need smacking too sometimes.

I would have politely told her to control her children or I would.

Personally, when I sell some, I will be sure to cage what I have for sale, bring it around to the front of the house, and keep it in a pen or enclosure there. They can pick it up without walking around back...

My property, my animals, my rules... follow them or leave.

That and I will tell them I have dogs that bite. And since I have a sign up, and have warned them, I will not be responsible for injuries. Even my neighbor's kids & nieces know to avoid my lab - she knows these kids but does not seem to like kids at all.

But I am sure some would be a handful for her.

And she has been known to mention quite loudly in checkout lines that someone's kid needed a good smack for misbehaving.

ETA: She was so sweet & polite as a child, I got compliments on her behavior almost everywhere. I remember the first time, I ever got a compliment on her - Nicole was sitting beside me in a booster seat eating her meal and an older couple stopped by our table at a NICE restaurant (Nicole was 1 1/2 years old) and said hello and thank you for having such a well mannered child. They really enjoyed their meal and our conversations (about what Nicole was eating, whether she needed a lid for her cup, how she liked her visit with Santa right before we ate). They had moved from another section that had some other kids there crying and pitching fits. She looked at them and said Thank you, have a nice day.

And I must add.....now Nicole is a 22 year old version of my mom.....and me

She is usually straightforward with her thoughts & opinions - although she is getting better about how things sound when she says them.......... (so much like my mom)

And sarcastic ......... wonder where she got that smartypants mouth from?

We must be mean and hateful in my family. My niece is VERY well behaved.....and her parents have told her that bad kids are from bad parents....so, if you are in a restuarant and there is a kid acting ridiculous, you can ask her "why is that kid so bad?"

And she will reply "BECAUSE HE HAS BAD PARENTS".

Hahahahahahah.....

Hey Amy! That little rooster I got from you was looking blueish today. Wonder if he is just a really dark blue? Will have to look at him again....nice little guy.

Thankfully the few kids I've had out here have been great. Maybe we need a sign that says "My dog bites bad kids." Is that what your sign says, Kimberly?

Having to go through that whole scene would be very frustrating! I might have had to accidentally trip one of the kids.
