Be sure and let us know when your book is ready. I'll buy it, I collect childrens books and I love to find things from local authors. I have thought about writing one myself someday, have lots of ideas.

I am not good with the frizzle colors and then with seramas there are so many varieties and the colors don't breed true. Having said that, that bottom picture looks very much like a mille fleur to me. But what do I know?

Awww! They are frizzled! How cute!
And nope, can't help you in the color dept. because frizzled birds always mess me up with color. All I see is PRETTY! I guess that isn't a color, eh?

I have two hens their age. One is a curlie and has a double frizzle gene.

I also have 5 smooth chicks around 4 weeks old. I'll get updated photos today. I have one definite male possibly two. Was hoping four would be girls. Argh!

Yes, I would hatch for you but do you more roos to deal with? Remember, God sends them in pairs and often a few girls stay back to giggle and chat and more boys show up without partners. Such is the luck of hatching. We could only wish for more girls than boys but it usually evens out somehow.

And yes, if he is doing the deed then he can be a dad. I collect eggs for about a week, keep them in a cool place out of direct sunlight and tilt the carton twice a day. Sometimes I forget and they still do fine. Always store pointy end down. That's it. Easy peasy!

I have so many broody hens it is unreal! But I let them do their thang. There are not as many in the free range laying flock as there once was so now others are back to laying in those nests but the Sizzles, Cochins and a few Marans are going broody in their pens, Silkies still are broody (when are they not?) and 2 Muscovy are on eggs, due to hatch tomorrow!

Glad to hear PumPum is recovering. It can be so hard to love and own chickens. It sounds like you are doing all you can.
I have my fingers crossed that these few eggs hatch friends out for PumPum!

And yes! Those eggs went for a lot! But that is a color that isn't seen very often and is dazzling! The birds RedBug was talking about sounded awesome, too! Those colors are just so pretty. That is kinda what I was shooting for with these eggs. Wish more had made it. I had 5 people inquire after the chicks long before they ever hatched.

Joy! I think we need some Polish babies! Got eggs?

Well...unfortunately my sweet Black Australorp "Opal" didn't make it

I really thought she might pull through... She was quite pale though, and even though she was eating and drinking, she was very lethargic. I guess I'm going to take another stool sample to work today to see where I'm at with the coccidia. I started them on another round of sulmet just in case. At what age in poultry is coccidia less of a concern? I know in dogs you barely ever see a problem with it past puppies...just curious when I can stop worrying. It may have been the heat that got her though...I don't know.

And this is my curlie. I think she is a buff. Nothing too special about her color. She looks sad right now. My male is feeling his oath and has decided he likes her and keeps mating her even though I have 3 females in his cage!!! And this girl isn't even ready to be bred.

I have white crested black polish eggs available whenever you want them.
