Hey Pink - I see that you homeschool, sounds like you need to add agriculture into your curriculum.

My 16 year old has a regular job, right here on my farm filling chicken drinkers everyday and helping unload the food weekly. Both of my boys help wash and box eggs. The chickens are mine but the boys are always with me so they're learning a lot. We homeschool too and helping out around the farm is a small price to pay for them to get to stay home for school everyday. Good luck with your birds.

They are Bi-Annual. This is only our 2nd, the first was back in April. So, unless something changes, which it may, they'll prob stay that way with 1 in the spring and 1 in the fall. but i think we all had so much to sell/trade/buy that we made it in August...next fall we may make it like Sept or Oct----but that goes into Football SATURDAYS!!

Thanks Pink for asking!!! PumPum is still with us and somewhat doing great! She still wont walk around(thinking of trimming her HUGE Do) so I know she can see! So, I do know she can walk I saw her, but would just rather lay around or just sit. Maybe the Heat but nobody else acts like this all day!....oh and her Palace is built but still needs to be painted and but the wire around it!!!

Sounds good, Pink.
Sept is a good month to get them in. I have gotten 50 chicks in November before and they did very well. I prefer to use heat lamps during the winter rather than try to figure the fans in this heat.
I was back down at the barn at 11 pm last night because I forgot to adjust the fans. During the day they can deal with them on high and blowing across them but at night I put them on low and not directly on the chicks. It is too much of a worry this time of year but then so is Dec./Jan. so you getting them in Sept is perfect.

Joy is going to bring me some Polish eggs to set. She sells out of her chicks fast. Hers are the beautiful black white crested. Those should hatch for me considering they hatch for her.

EXCITING!!! About the Polish eggs YOU know I want atleast two

Cause Here's a Preview of the Polish Palace(sort of stopped calling it PumPum Palace cause someone told me it sounds like a stripper bar, Well there is a gold pole inside it Geesh

I'm from Greenville, but my daughter lives in Rock Hill. She went to Winthrop for her Masters in Social Work and decided to stay there since she found a job nearby. Now, I think having Charlotte close has really made her want to stay.

I couldn't sleep, so I decided I would get up and work on my paper that is due Thursday. It's a crummy subject about the role tourism plays in small towns. You would think the subject would put me to sleep.

Anyway, I already have all my information collected and outline done, just need to put it all together. And I worked on it for a whole 15 minutes before I got sidetracked and ended up here

Guess I'll go play on my blog, umm I mean type on the computer somewhere else.....

RANT:My birds have been on strike something fierce the past 3 weeks. I checked the egg log of my flocks when I got back and couldn't believe what I saw. My wife collected and updated everyday while I was gone. I'm seeing it for myself since I've been back. We went from at least a dozen/day to maybe 5 out of approx. 20 hens!!

SO, it looks like I won't be having hatching eggs to sell at the swap...unless they pick up quick! Going to get some BOSS today to hopefully turn this thing around, but I can't control the heat....
