well my 2 new pair of polish came through the night just fine ate their dinner and seamed to relax,, this morning going out to give them breakfast and goodies.. I don't think they've been handled a lot which is probably more normal than mine who are handled everyday.. but I only have less than 2 doz so I'm sure mine are the minority,,, I don't think it will take much to tame them down. the girls are much easier to catch and love on. one of the roo is a bit more aggressive. but more in a fear aggression rather than a mean aggression with is totally understandable they've gone through a big stressful change..

I am going to have to buy some leg bands, right now I can tell the boys apart cause they've been going though a molt so one has more feathers but the girls are very well matched and identical. any ideas where I can get bands?

Sam ( I cant remember moms name sorry ) how are her birds holding up this am? and your little chicks too.

If you can't find bands use color zip ties. I did that to identify my 3 barred rocks. I can tell them apart close up, but had trouble at a distance for a while. Now I can, but for my husbands sake they still have their colored bands on. Makes life easier.

I actually took my sultan out (from the same breeder who had the polish) and trimmed her nails and around her eyes. She was walking kind of like an idiot around my front yard. Like she wasn't very bright. XD Well, once I trimmed so she could see better she panicked! So apparently she's been half-blind by the feathers over her eyes for some time. She saw me coming towards her and made a run for it. Thankfully I talked sweet and approached her slow and was able to catch her without too much fuss. She's definitely more lively and active with more eyesight!

I get mine at Cutler Supply. I use the plastic bandettes. I combine with the spirals for breeding purposes

I used colored zip ties on chicks until big enough to band ...

got a question...

one of my little black unknown girls Weezy overheated yesterday.. when I got home she was laying on her side then when she tried to walk she stumbled leaning the whole time till she just plooped down.. I got her cooled off with water got her temp to drop. brought her int he house.. she hasn't eaten still or drank, so forced some vitamin paste into her and a full syringe of water and shes back a sleep.. wondering do you think maybe she had a heat stroke? shes just very quiet and doesn't wan tot do anything I have her box top open and she hasn't even tried to get out and come to me.. she would do that when she was re-cooperating from her cold few months ago.. Oh and no her name isn't weezy cause she was sick she is weezy ( Louise) and I had Florence, then I have Gloria and Edith. we watch a good bit of TV land hahah..

so any ideas what might have happened or what I should do.. poor little girl is soo thin she has no meat on her breast. I have wormed them last month, they get a lot of fruits and veggies added to their diet. still crumbles. fresh water daily lately twice a day... shes been out with everyone else in the yard... and garden.. only new bug I've noticed is a bunch of Japanese beetles? could they have made her sick. nothing else is new.. she hans't been near my new polish.. ??? Im stumped.

Of course I told her she just wants to be a house chicken and live in the AC...

i had a wonderful time yesturday meeting everyone. sorry a few was coming that did not make it. we sure miss seeing you. thanks to john for the 2 cornation sussex roosters i sure needed them. my black ameruacana rooster won first place. it was not expected. but i want to thank everyone.i met some really nice people, and wish more would have been there. this meet to me is more about seeing everyone and talking about our chickens, than just selling a chicken. had a great time

Thanks and your welcome to all my buyers at the swap. We had a great time and as always is nice to faces with names. Thanks to Jack I swapped him the Sussex for 2 BLRW, 1 blue 1 splash. My Del roo, Farmer, won 2nd place in our show that was judged by the Richland County 4H that were there volunteering for Tractor Supply. I sold my 4 comets. I still have a rir flock, 6 hens 1 roo, for sale if anyone is interested. I need to make room for my blrw. I will post pics of my 2 blrw that I brought home in a couple hours.

Also the 4H lady took a lot of pics so when she emails them to me ill be sure to post them. And last but not least I think Amy and Betsy were on The most wanted list at the swap!!

Wow, sounds like you all had a great Swap meet. Where was the swap at? How often do you get together? Wish I had known about it, we would have loved to come to meet fellow BYC, and even look at increasing our chicken numbers. Chicken math

And welcome to our thread!

The swap was in Irmo, down near Columbia. There will probably be another in the spring?

There is going to be one up in NC, less than 2 hours from Spartanburg in a few weeks.

It is fun to meet everyone on here and chat a good bit. I have met the best people from here on BYC!
