Joy, that sounds scary!
As most people know I have gates down at the end of my driveway at the road. My nosy neighbors are very close to my gates and driveway so that helps me out. And having a big dog helps some, too. I only open my gates when I am expecting someone.
I have had birds stolen from me but that was before I got a dog and my neighbors were not as vigilant as they are now. With everyone having new outside dogs and the people that are up all night anyhow, including my DH, we are more protected. I hope we never have to put buckshot in anyone's rear ends but any of us around here would if we had to.
I am getting to where I am not wanting to let anyone come down into my barnyard to see my birds either. There are many reasons, ones we have mentioned on past posts but also to keep others from seeing the lay out and what all I really have.
Although I do love to show off my birds, I am worried about folks I know nothing about around my farm.
BTW, my neighbor behind me has pit bulls chained right next to my fence and he said he came out one night because the dogs were making a terrible racket. He thought maybe a possum was out trying to get to their food or something but could have swore he saw a person running along the edge of his woods. It was really too dark to tell much and he blinked a few times trying to get his night vision and then it was gone. My neighbor has "issues" anyhow so I am not sure what to believe.
I dislike him having these dogs and letting them breed so much but I am rethinking it. For my own sake.
