Alright, I would like to share some pictures of a few pullets I kept this summer:

These are some of the golden laced girls I kept this season!

This is one of my girls out of a buff hen and my golden laced roo--yes Emptynester, this is out of one of your girls! I know she is a cross but I think she is beautiful! I have 2 of these I kept but I could not find the other one when I was taking pictures--she must be camera shy. She looks similar but her penciling is a little different. Both are really big girls and I am hoping to enlarge my golden laced birds with these two. If I can bring back the lacing....

This little girl was hard to keep up with and since I wanted to show her lacing I settled for this pic. She too is a cross with the golden laced roo giving her the nice lacing. I want to breed her back to my blue cochin roo and see if I can keep the lacing!

OK, just wanted to share some of my babies while my human baby was a sleep!

Redbug- I haven't seen Rio yet, though I hear it is cute. We will definitely have to try and plan some time together. Can't be letting Amy Nadine and Joy have all the fun!!

Oh, I agree! But keep me out of Walmart--I spend too much money there!!

Thank you. DD did the cutting on the tablecloth to make color in the baskets for the "kuntry" look. I just added peaches, jelly, jam, honey and eggs.
NO! Those are not Mottled eggs! Those crazy things have stopped laying again. Two hens went broody so the other 4 are standing around looking at each other. Geez!
The eggs in the baskets are from my free range flock.

I had to put Frog jam in there since a few city folk sometimes think it is really made from frogs!

I have to tell them no, THAT kind of frog jam is what you get between your toes when you are outside barefooted in the evenings. This kind of frog jam is Fig, Raspberries, Orange and Ginger. It takes them a minute but then they go...."Oh...ooooohhhhh! Okay." I love it!

I'll let you know when the Mottleds are back to laying like they should.

Where, pray tell, does one find frog jam?

By the way, I had to "spank" a black kitten for sitting on TOP of the incubator. I gave up and put the "dryer" incubator on the floor of the living room with two stools for the kitties to watch without touching. I showed the three of them a freshly hatched chick and they were to afraid to approach.

the 4-h pullet show is being held ion Abbyville this year ( easy enough to get to...) sept 10 is the poultry at 8am for the pullets. then after wards the auction will be put on by Jenny.. I dont have her number but I do have Katie Shaw's here in Laurens and she can give you more info Ill try to find out more too about where it is actually and directions and Ill post for everyone.. I know they will be healthy they have had all vaccs and are ready to lay and sell... I am not sure as to what breeds they worked with I think it was an aray of pullets..

well tonight's the night I put the girls in lock down... 3 of them are squatting now.. and Midas has been breeding Golden for 2 weeks now.. so up they go, till I get some Darn EGGS!!!! oh Im sure if I understood chicken I'd be hearing alot of cursing at me for the next couple of days..

To be honest, I probably won't ever have them. I almost always just sell chicks and never have the chance to let them mature. When I hatched that last batch, I hadn't really started selling anything to the public and just let them grow. And I need all the ones I have for sure!

Did ya'll get everything set back up after the mini tornado that hit you a while back? that sure was scary and weird here I am right down the road and didn't get anything.. ive been telling my husband for years if we get some Extra money I want a storm celler dug and built.. we have no where to go in a tornado, I hope my guys tied my house down as well as the guys that did yours..
