Welcome Newbees!! It is great how many new people we have on here!

I want to share what we did this weekend~bought a new rooster for our black OEGB hens!!! We got him from "Choice Bantams" out of Fairfax, SC and I really think he is a nice looking boy!

What do you think?? We have named him "Little Thunder". We got our hens from eggs sent from my mom this summer out of Spokane, WA. Her and my dad had these black OEGB for over 20 years and never introduced any new blood so we decided to get a nice roo to put with them. I hope my daugher will have an interest in them when she gets bigger for show~if not it can only improve the line. Right now we will keep DD away from Little Thunder as he lives up to the game name!

On another note, the guinea eggs I pulled out of the nest last week and put in the incubator and almost threw out have started to hatch big time--well big enough. Probably about 10 to 15 keets if all the eggs that candled good hatch. Joy, there are Coral Blues!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

now many eggs do you have in your new incabator

Just the dozen from you. For some reason my birds are not breeding. I think all my males in the coop are several weeks younger than the hens laying. The only male interested in mating is my large rir but he doesn't have access to the hens and when he has they run from him.

I have a black silkie roo...and I think I must see the polish /silkie crosses! And although I have Blue Laced instead of silver(I have 2 chicks that one may not be a blue) I love them! My boys are just 16 weeks and they are awesome( I think)!

I just ordered some, would you recommend the breed? I thought they were pretty, and I heard they lay well too.

I have polish crested and silver sebrights too. I have about 30 breeds. I love the wyandottes, they are very sweet birds. My rooster is such a gentleman. They lay a medium sized egg, smaller than most of my layers. But they are very pretty birds and have a great disposition.

Yay!! now I can't wait for September!!! I hope they arrive healthy!!

I like my sebrights, but they're a little too flighty for me. The hen doesn't lay either

but they're beautiful

I need better quality hens though. the hens I have don't do my roosters justice.
