Phoneman, Thanks for saying that! They were really nice people and their name came to us highly recommended. It was such a shock finding someone that close with nice OEGB's and the color we needed!

Amy, It was funny, all the way home we were trying to figure out what we were going to name him and then not long after I put him in his new pen I was trying to push him out of the way to get a bowl in there and he flogged me--thus, the name Little Thunder. He seem fine if I don't try pushing him around!

I've had an exciting day today!! Guess what I just brought home, a beautiful cabinet incubator! FINALLY....I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Cannot wait to bring it in and set it up and later in the week fill it up!! I am in trouble now, it will hold lots of eggs. I'm just a little bit excited.

speaking of little black hens.. RIP Weezy..

Weezy finally passed this am. she is survived by only one sister.. Gloria, the little runt, who had a bald butt for the first 5 weeks of life, then fell out of the tree and hurt her hip and had to be put up for 2 full weeks ( but recovered well) and who now lives full time with Colton's new black ameracauna roo, ronnie ( carver) . of all the chicks that I bought ( 12 of that unknown black breed) after freak flash flooding, heat, fox, hawk and now a new villain in the air, a big OWL. I have Gloria. ( still little and not a lot of feathers?) Weezy was laid to rest this evening in the farm cemetery, along with her sister Edith who fell prey to the Owl last night. 9 I don't think I will name girls after any 70's tv shows, the names now have bad JUJU for me.

I now have everyone locked up till we can rid our farm of this new villain. the hens I have left now I will not loose to some critter or freak storm... sorry about that little outburst, its been a rough 1st summer of raising backyard fowl.. but I have learned well,, and will not make the same mistakes,, ( just new ones I'm sure) but rest assured I will have healthy happy chickens.... !!!.. and be villain free! so that I may have healthy happy chicks in the future.. thank you .. the end.

Anytime, i love mine i want more, the rooster is big and beautiful. i may seperate the two of them for some chicks
