Hon, they obviously wanted them for almost nuthin! I can't advertise on CL anymore. Those are exactly the type of people I got each and every time!
Your birds are gorgeous! That roo made me say "hubba hubba!" Don't take offense. They don't know quality when they see it. However, please lock up your birds. Sounds like they may be the type that will come back and use their 5 finger discount when you aren't home.

Yeah..I just kinda figured they didn't know what the heck they were talking about. Unfortunately a lot of people around here don't know what good quality birds are worth! They never came to the house, though, thank goodness

I was going to meet them somewhere with DH. I don't like using Craigslist...I may give up on it. I really really hate to put that boy in the freezer though. He is sooo handsome! Anybody want a Blue Orp roo or even a pair?? I trust people on here way more than going thru craigslist. Sure wish I could come to the Chickenstock and try to get rid of these last few roos!

Since mine were raised with the turkeys, they stay with the turkeys. When turkeys are out, they like to be out. They are actually sleeping on the ground beside the turkey pen.

You lucky duck! I just know as soon as I turn mine out they will be like a traveling band!
I actually would love to do it before the Guinea girl comes off the nest but they are still my babies (screaming, crying heathens act like 2 yr olds when I try to kiss on them!). I think mine are...let's see....10 weeks old now.
Glad I had another batch. First ones all sold, I kept these second ones and now have more hatching and another batch due to hatch next week.

At least these new hatched ones don't scream as badly when I love on them. But they sure do still fuss!

Jackie, Jackie, Jackie! Tell me what you have hatched!!!

You could always come to the beach!! I am thinking about heading out there to see if I can get some good pictures of the cloud bands when irene passes by.

Dag gone! Slow down! I am having a hard time keeping up with you all!

I wanna see the photos you take! I bet they will be beautiful! However, my cheering squad is chanting "Go away, Irene! Go away, Irene!"

Love ya'll but I gotta go finish the chicken chores and put them up. I'll read all the good news sometime tomorrow. Got so much to do it won't be much though.

Yes, if the weather is decent we will start around 9 am. No one really needs to help but you are welcome to come and watch and ask any questions. I am not sure we will take more than an hour unless others want to try some of their own hands at processing. But if you do, you take it home. My freezer is about full.

I'll let you know if I can come. I'm supposed to do kennels at work that morning

but I may be able to get my brother to do it for me. I'd like to learn how to do this for sure...as hard as it is to get rid of roos!

Okay, here are more photos, Heidi!
Tell me what they are because Joy and I both want to learn how to identify keets. And I am sure Jackie would like to know when hers emerge.

I have more photos but thought these might be the best to show. Other than the whole kit and kaboodle of them. And yes, I do put my chicks on newspaper right out of the hatcher. There is chick starter on the floor and I do not get chicks with spraddle leg from having them on this for a few days. If I ever see one with spraddle leg, it hatches out that way. I'm just saying.....

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/9332_colored_keets_8-11_flock.jpg

The first picture has both pearls--look for the broad black stripe down the middle with thin black stripes on each side.
2nd picture has a royal purple--look for the thin black lines and white around eyes & chest.
3rd picture is a buff--look for the thin tan lines on the head. If there is a broad tan line it would be a dundotte. If the thin lines are dark brown and back has darker brown lines it will be a chocolate. If the it is a wide dark brown line is will be a Brown.
4th picture is a coral blue--thin blue lines, and a pied pearl--wide black line on head but white around eyes.
5th picture is a coral blue and a pied pearl.
6th picture is a coral blue adn a buff--remember if there is a broad blue band down the middle it would be a lavender.
7th picture is a buff, royal purple and a pearl.
8th is a pied pearl, pearl to the right, royal purple behind, buff or light chocolate, pearl, buff, and coral blue in the back.
Clear as mud??? Does this make since??

Awww....those are beautiful keets! And I can't wait to hear what Heidi says about the colors. I will say a small word of warning on the newspaper, just be careful as guineas seem to be much more prone to spraddle leg. It is a sad thing when it happens and it cannot be fixed. I've seen a few chicks and a few guineas with spraddle leg - guineas are different.

Joy, you are right. I raise all of my keets now the first week on an old towel. You can tie the legs with a bread wrapper if they get spraddle legs or something similar. If I put them on a towel or even paper towels I do not have too many problem.

The dark one looks like a Royal Purple but the other I can not see very well--kind of looks like a Opaline or a light Coral Blue in that light....
idunno.gif
Ok, if it is a lavender it will have dots on the feathers like the pearl. If it is a coral blue or opaline it will have trianglar white pattern -- creating a kind of chevron pattern on the feathers.
