Just got home from the Emergency room with DD. She possibly has pneumonia.

Three hours in the Dr's office and 3 breathing treatments, 6 hours in the ER with another 6 doses of breathing treatments, x-rays and lab work.

Bless her heart! She never gets sick and they really are not sure if it isn't just the start to asthma. No fever but she can't breath and is gasping for breath but that is still happening after all the treatments, too.
I love paying a ton of money for them to not know what is wrong.

We did not tell them we have 60+ Guinea Pigs in the house.

I get to go buy a bunch of prescriptions tomorrow and she is missing a week out of school.

Oh Amy - I'm so sorry! Noah has been sick all week too, terrible cough and sore throat with low grade fever. I hope your daughter feels better soon, hopefully the meds will work. Maybe a hot shower will help breathing? The steam usually gives me some relief. There is so much sickness going around. My Great Aunt (who is 89 years old) is in the hospital with pneumonia. One day she is fine and the next they are thinking she won't recover from this at her age. I had breathing treatments in the hospital for asthma and they didn't seem to help me much either. Did they give you a prescription for an inhaler? A rescue inhaler usually works much better.

Oh, no! I had pneumonia in 2008 and spent 10 days in the hospital. Ended up having chest surgery with a lovely chest tube for several days. It can get bad so please monitor if she's not getting better. I was home on antibiotics and just getting worse and worse. My doctor told me it would take a few days. If my brother-in-law, the surgeon, hadn't come over and taken me immediately to the ER, I might not have made it. I was that sick. But I had a fever so I'm hoping she doesn't have such a bad case.

Hope she gets better soon!

I hope she feels better soon. You might want to ask your primary Dr. if he/she will schedule an allergy test. Allergies can pop up at any time, even if you have never had a problem before.

Thanks you, Joy.
Leah doesn't have a cough or a sore throat. She just can't catch her breath. She took a hot shower with steam but she said that seemed to make it worse.
Today she is a lot better though. She was practically climbing the walls with all that nebulizer treatment making her jittery. However, she was finally able to sleep last night. She had not slept in 2 nights and was only able to nap while sitting slightly reclined. Every time I checked on her last night she was sound asleep so I know she has to feel better today. No more wheezing either adn she can walk from the den to kitchen without having to sit down and rest.
Yes, she is on an inhaler for now.
Don't you just hate to see your kids sick?

I hate hearing about your aunt because it is really severe for older people. I pray she gets better.
