Dude! I would love that! Are you trying to find out if I will sell you another show winning pullet?

I have a few Motty girls growing up and you know how hard it is to squeeze one away from me! And you know I can't always tell if they are going to be as fabulous as they are meant to be. You probably can tell if they will be as nice as the young lady you are showing now though.
But for a white d'Uccle pullet, I will let you take your pick of my young ladies. Not my older girls though!

What happens to the Marans if not fed the higher protein? Also, is it a problem to just feed the hens and the chicks the Williams starter nstead of buying both thelaying mash as wel as starter

They often fail to thrive, have leg problems or joint problems and often get to the point of not being able to walk at all. If I put roosters out to free range and mature then they are able to get to the layer food and eat enough that they do not take in enough of the higher protein foods I offer early morning or late evening in their own coops. If they choose to get into another coop and sleep at night then they don't get any of the higher protein food and really go down hill. This blk copper roo we just put down decided to live with the ducks and chicks in their pen and coop and was unable to get enough of the higher protein starter.
My cuckoo Marans have been much tougher and never had these problems but the blk copper, blue copper and the wheatons I had all need a higher protein food to mature well.

I feed starter from Williams to my birds in the free range flock and breeder pens mixed with layer mash, wheat, BOSS and anything else they may desire at that time. Barley is good during cold months. I have some breeder birds that will be 5 next spring and still laying well. I just lost my exceptional white bantam Cochin hen this past summer. She was a show bird at one time in her young life but lived to be 8 years old. I have no idea how she was fed the first year of her life but know she hated pellets.

Oh my! I know you will find another lovely lady in all these I have growing up. There are a few I have been watching and admiring. I know you will do justice to anyone you decide on. I just hope she makes you proud on the show circuit.

Thank you for the chance to trade! I am going to be so happy to get something else to work with!

What am I saying??? Another project........

Have the chicks hatched out yet???

I had 2 Swedish Blue ducklings hatch out the other day. They are so adorable. Not mine though. But at least I get to kiss and love on them for about a week. I have an older sister to them. Once the chicks hatch out this week then Debra will come pick them all up. I love to hatch but don;t want to feed them all.

Oh! Oh! Oh! That reminds me....my Golden Cascade ducks have started laying! Five and a half months old and I got 4 eggs yesterday. After all this time I still get excited about eggs. Like a treat for feeding and caring for the buggers.

Oh yeah, Williams feed prices dropped by 50 cents yesterday!

Sorry I am so late responding but yes!!! The 2 chicks have hatched and I will get pictures when I get a chance--of course one is a LF cochins chick and then my first BBRed bantam chick!! They are so cute!!

We need some duckling picture!!

GOOD NEWS. The kitty just came by and ate a little dry food and took off. He was a little spooked but that most likely was from me shooting the first snake. I do not think he would have came to the house and eaten anything if the snake had got him. He will come inside tonight when it gets dark and I'll get a better look but I think he's OK. Be relief as I like this cat, he's got a good personality.

That's so weird. I had my Marans on Chick Starter for a few months and then Layer Feed. They're all fine. I've never had any problems at all. I wonder why.

OK today has been horrible. I came home from work and found one of my babies (a RIR) dead in the pen. I think she went to jump in the nest box and broke her neck. I don't know. So sad

and to top it all off just in case you are wondering, in the battle of dog vs. skunk, SKUNK 1 dog 0. OMG this is the most vile and disgusting smell ever. The worst part is that it is in the house now. And for the record, 15 scented candles, 2 cans of frebreeze, and 2 cans of oder eliminator carpet cleaner DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!
