Thank you. I don't understand why the powers that be don't make hanging waterers for chicks. The lil' ones make a horrible mess in their waterers when it is on the floor.

Ooohh..that's just too creepy!! There are way too many people wandering out in the public with psychotic issues. Behavioural Health care is hit and miss any more. It went from bad to worse seems like, even though there are better anti-psychotic drugs, more knowledgable Care Providers and Dr's. But, people can't get the help anymore. Turned out into the streets. I hope he doesn't come back to your home at huckleberry farm.

Now you know how to make your next million bucks!

But I can tell you, mine have no shavings when they are little and they still are able to spit their food into the drinking fountain. I have food almost under their heat lamp and the water will be almost the entire 4' away at the other end of the brooder and they are still able to fill the base with food in a matter of 2 hours! They are just little pigs!

Too cute with the Guineas! I know they had so much fun and are just amazed at being out and about. The 4 I let loose will not leave the grow up pen. Even though the Pearl family comes and goes from the pen and coop every day, those 4 Pearls will not leave it. I am sure as they mature more they will go with them and wander the farm for more food but for now they feel safe.

Love the photo with your son and Kitty! Cats have always been my special snuggle loves. I can't see me ever living without one.

That is a scary story! I am so glad you are okay! This sounds just like what happened to another person on here and may be the person you are talking about that he was running down. He still has plenty of problems, it sounds like. Beware everyone!

Rain all week.
Guess that means wet shoes and inside chores that need doing can possibly get done.
DH decided it would be best to move stuff out of our biggest bathroom closet (we have 2, one for storage and one for linens) and put the meal worms on those shelves. Since 2 of the shelves are full of old checks and paperwork from 20-30 years ago I guess I will be burning or shedding all that. Why do I hang on to stuff so long?

Anyhow, the meal worms benefit from warm humid air and the bathroom will be the perfect place for them. I have to leave that closet door cracked open anyhow for the cat's litter box and I store their food in there so I am in that closet more than I care to be. I can only put 4 of the 5 containers in there but we are about to add another since they are multiplying so well. We just want to keep the mealies going since the chicks and birds love them so.

I almost hate to see it rain as I really enjoy outdoor activities so much more but with me needing to clean house and do indoor things this will be a good chance to get it done. Here comes winter, whether we like it or not!

Goodness knows we need the rain to fill our water reservoirs again.

Ah, come on! That is so easy to do and they are really nice polite bugs. And the biggest plus of all is how much your chickens look at you the most adoringly when they want some. Cute as any kid, I swear!

My meal worms have been such a fun and super easy project for me. You know how little time I have for anything besides chickens and ducks and Guineas. It takes just minutes a few times a week or less!

Have you seen my Meal Worm page? (Don't look, Susanne!

I did go through one of my colonies today and detect an odor so it is time to get out all the frass, put it on my plants (I hope they will look at me adoringly, too!) and build the wheat bran back up in the tub. I have just put it off because I don't want to mistakenly move out any eggs that could be potential chick food.
