I have those too! And the 2010 Dec issue had an article on D'uccles in it also. There's one that showed what to do about prolapse, detailed pics, and I dug it out in an emergency situation one night and performed the procedure myself. Love those magazines.

Well.....do you ever have one of those days, weeks, months, years?? Anyone know where to trade in an old worn out husband for a newer model? Just kidding (kind of). My husband has put me off all summer saying he would build me new coops and pens this fall when it got cooler and he had his own work caught up. Well, he's had a workplace injury that is requiring surgery, scheduled next week. Then yesterday he jumped off of a tow truck (why, I have no idea) and of course he fell. We see an Orthopedic tomorrow, praying it doesn't require surgery. He broke his wrist at his personal shop, this won't be Worker's Comp and he won't get paid while he recovers from that. I am not a happy camper, wondering why in the world that man does the things he does. I think it's just to drive me crazy - and he may just succeed.

Jackson here,

Don't have but 4 hens and one Rooster. No eggs yet. Had them about one week. Trying hard, paying attention, but don't much experience. Determined to have 4 laying hens though. Grandmother wants "real eggs". s he's almost ninety and I am gonna have them for her somehow.

OMG! Joy, I am so sorry to hear this! Why do our men folk think they are still youngsters and can do this stuff?

If you need help with anything, just let us know. We may have to have a barn raising at your house! Those were the good old days when people got together for that.

I hope everything works out okay at the Drs appointments and there isn't anything too serious but the surgery next week sounds like he will be laid up for a while. If it isn't one thing it is another. I so well understand. You see ow why I took up drill and skill saw. I am about to break down and learn how to fix our well pump.

Again, I am sorry to hear about your DH's accidents and hope all goes well at the Orthopedic appointment tomorrow.

And welcome to our SC thread!
We chat and yak about chickens all the time. We love all our feathered friend s and talk about our furry ones too.

Sounds like you will have some eggs coming along soon. this is not the best time of year with the molting and changes in weather but they will pick up and I bet by Thanksgiving you will have plenty of eggs for adding to the gravy and making all those delish dishes. (Can you tell I don't cook?)
Nothing tastes better than some fresh eggs, fresh cows milk, homemade biscuits, homemade preserves or jelly, some bacon, gravy and maybe a slice of tomato fresh from the garden. ...........Can you tell what DH made me for supper Sunday night?
