I had hoped that without the bantam roosters out anymore, I wouldn't have a chick overload this year! When I found this nest, I was going to destroy it because I thought they were infertile, but, lo and behold there was almost fully formed chicks! So I just had to let them hatch to see what they would turn out as!

Our DS has been pestering us for his " own" dog for the past few months. By his own he meant, goes with him everywhere, sleeps with him, and he had better mean he feeds, waters, walks, brushes and clean ups after.... Our new addition today....

I just did my day 10 candling...took out 9 eggs...8 clear with yolk and one with what I believe to be a clear blood ring. Have 2 I am unsure about but the rest are solid looking in about one half of the egg so my guess is development...I have only been really looking ast one of my RIR crosses and my D'uccle and I did not look last 2 days and they are a big difference from sunday night and all rest match!! FINGERS CROSSED....I am gonna cruise forum for candling pics!!

edit...looked at pics...my day 10s look like 2 peoples day 12s and 13s? Is this normal?

Oh, sure. If you are looking at bantams over LF eggs you will see a lot of difference. The smaller the chicken the faster it develops. However! It also can be the way your heat and humidity run in your bator.
When I set Debra's and Donnas' eggs in the LG still air with the turner they always mature faster than mine in the Sportsman or even any of their extras that are in the Sportsman. Because they are closer to the heat on top and it is much warmer and more humid in there. Not tons, of course but enough to make a good 24 and even 48 hour difference.
