I've been kind of busy lately and haven't had much computer time. Just wanted to say a BIG WELCOME to all the new members. I'm in Spartanburg County, near GSP Airport.

Well, it doesn't want to build pressure. It will give us water for an hour or so and then quit. If we go flip the breaker off for it and wait about 30-60 seconds then flip it back on the water will come back on. It loves to wait til I am in the middle of washing my hair to go off!
Sometimes it will stay on all day without any problem but other times it just quits. Sometimes we can just leave it alone and eventually it will come back on by itself but our pump is running constantly that way so we just turn the breaker off when not using the water.
Sounds like a pain, I know but life could be much worse. DH knows how to fix stuff, he just won't get around to doing it. That is why I no longer make the attempt at cooking or cleaning up after him. I figure this is a fair trade.
If the spring on the pressure switch is giving out the switch isnt always working...outside temp will affect the switch and it will be worse during cooler temps if thats the problem...the switch is about 15 bucks but the pressure in your bladder tank will have to be set to the new switch unless you get the same on /off rating. Mine is on at 40psi /off at 60 psi so my bladder psi is 38. I have had a bladder in my tank bust and my pump cut on and off constant when water was running . That would cause the pump relay to kick and cutting the breaker on and off resets that!!Unfortunatly a bladder tank is 100 bucks and up depending on size...Wish I lived closer since I grew up working on wells!! Alright, I think I am all caught up! Fowl Pox, Hawks, bad water pumps, Camo netting- I'm missing all the cool stuff! oh my!
Got a wake up call this morning from some friends and headed out to the farm to help process 50 chickens. It did not take long for the four of us to find a rhythym and we got it done in a decent time. Had fun using the feather plucker and was thankful for it. Definitely made things go quite a bit quicker. I don't even want to try to imagine plucking that many by hand.
A bad day to be a chicken, but safe to be a guinea. There were 10 of them that kept wandering around and checking out what we were doing, and at one point were rasing quite the ruckus on the edge of the field at the tree line. Never did figure out what they saw, but everyone within a couple mile radius knew they saw something
Someone there was wanting a pet chicken, so I think I'm going to give her a couple of the Mille Fleur D'uccles. Not only will she get a pet, but I"ll have more brooder space for the future
My Vally quail pair have started laying, I have 8 eggs sitting in the turner and will turn on the incubator in the next day or two and get them started. I really need to get started building a brooder for the quail chicks, and then a pen, and then a chick brooder.... Oh the work is never done

BTW Amy my DH is also good at fixing stuff but wells are not his thing since he was a city boy!! No offense intended to your DH but I always try to lend my knowledge if it may save some time and effort for anyone!!

oneofseven- It was like that yes, but actually the name brand eludes me. My friends said the guy had gotten it for $650 and that included the delivery charge. it was able to do two chickens at a time, and made the work much much nicer

Just let me know if the little girls get busy~the only eggs in the incubator are the marans eggs and 4 OEGB's from my BBReds. The marans are due to hatch next Wed/Thurs. Two of the oegb eggs are due to hatch tomorrow and 2 just after the marans but I really do not mind shutting the bator down and cleaning it good again if time permits(or not!).
My little BBReds have never started laying regular and they are suppose to be last year birds. They act more like old hens than young ones--only one hen has ever laid and she lays 2 eggs then stops for about a week or 2 then she lays a couple more and stops again for a while. Do you have a light on yours or anything like that?
They're doing great Heidi! Thanks for asking. I only had 2 eggs that didn't pip and 1 that pipped but didn't hatch. And I've lost one little keet that somehow managed to get stuck between the drinker and the brooder wall. They do seem to find trouble. OK, pictures!! We picked up 2 of my blinds today. DH was wondering if I can really use them for something, and I am thinking YES!! What do you think?
These are some of the nets. They are folded but when spread out are big enough to go over our truck!!
Now remember the hog pen~this is where I hope one of the blinds will go with the netting over the top. My husband is saying I have reached the all time redneck stage! I am saying they were free! And the blinds do stay pretty dry inside, plus the netting develops a good deal of shade!
Oh, this was my audience--these are some of my young blue and brown/chocolate guineas. Yes, the brown/chocolates are lighter than I would like them but I plan to run them with some Royal Purples next year and see if I can get some darker colored birds. I hope to put the blues in the hog pen! Not sure how they will like the blind as a house. Might have to think about that and maybe use the blind somewhere else....
