What I read said 102-104 was normal temperatures...

He's been in a dog crate in my garage for about 3 days. No chance of a poisonous snake. Only thing it could have been was a poisonous bug when he was briefly rummaging around the front yard while I cleaned his cage yesterday. He is still eating and drinking. In fact he just ate 2 French fries. (I know...so spoiled)

If he is eating, he doesn't have a fever. I think he would feel too bad to eat if he had a fever of 3 or 4 degrees higher than normal, wouldn't you?

I have read this......"Clinical signs: Fowl cholera usually strikes birds older than 6 weeks of age. In acute outbreaks, dead birds may be the first sign. Fever, reduced feed consumption, mucoid discharge from the mouth, ruffled feathers, diarrhea, and labored breathing may be seen. As the disease progresses birds lose weight, become lame from joint infections, and develop rattling noises from exudate in air passages. As fowl cholera becomes chronic, chickens develop abscessed wattles and swollen joints and foot pads. Caseous exudate may form in the sinuses around the eyes."

If he is eating well I think that is a good sign.

I had always thought so, too. I had a sick hen one time that I took the temp on and she showed 106. I figured she was running a fever as she did not want to eat. A few days later she was better but before I let her out I took her temp again and it was still 106. She was eating fine and wanted free so I let her out and grabbed up another chicken that (bless her heart) happened by and took her temp. It was 107. I have since started thinking these birds live to give us concerns!

So I took the temperature on some control birds outside who are healthy and they are 106 something. Who'd have thought??? I got a video of my roo. I'll post it so everyone can see once YouTube displays it.
