If you cross wheaten with blue wheaten you still have true breed sellable colors.
The first generation would be wheaten carrying (or some people say split) to blue. If you cross daughters back to dad then you will get blue wheatens of 75% but I have found the number to be much higher. If you cross siblings then you will get a 50% chance of blue wheatens but odds are likely you will get more than 50%. Just years of breeding experience and a lot of record keeping have helped me learn what you will get regardless of what the genetics formulas are.

I have several boys, Samantha. You might like one of the other blues that is up and coming, too. Most all of them are wheatens. I do not care for the regular wheaten color on roos but can live with blue wheatens. I love any of the wheaten girls.

Here are my Wheatens. I have three girls and two Wheaten boys and two Blue Wheaten boys. One of my blues has a bum leg so he's pretty much worthless as a breeder. He can only hop!

I love the girls too. They are so creamy! The boys' beards are changing from white to black which is why they look a little crazy.

Was it totally white or was it one of those reverse colored ones?
I have only seen the black ones with white stripes but have heard there are solid whites like the albinos and the white ones with black stripes.
I almost think it would be neat to see a different one, as long as it is from a very far distance!

I have quite a few extra roos and could have sent one off yesterday when the lady came for the flock of BLRW. She drove up from Columbia for 5 pullets and a roo and saw the Ameraucanas free ranging around the outside of tractor and wanted one of the roos but doesn't have an extra pen right now. So she plans to come in a few weeks and get one and a few girls. I told her I would let her pick the roo of the ones able to let go.

Speaking of BLRW........ Jackie, your one is viable and the others had no development. I am hatching all that lay except for the ones I sold this week and am shipping out. If you want yours to grow up with what I hatch, that is fine or if you want to take a few of mine home with your one, that is cool, too. You know I got your back, girlfriend!
I am trying not to set more eggs but golly, it is blasted hard!

And Yancy! d'Uccle eggs in the hatcher today! Seven MF and 8 Porcelain eggs are in there trying to decide when to pop out.

My 'bator spiked up to 102 on Saturday in the middle of trying to work on the well so we replaced the wafer and I was hoping I had not lost any.

Susanne believe it or not, the wheatens I purchased from you seem to be all pullets. No rooster. I guess I need to get back with you. Does your marans lay all year around? My five cuckoo maran girls seem to lay less than some of my other breeds.

They do lay all-year round. I had a bit of a drop off in November last year but they started right back up. I have a few Wheaten boys that should be close to the same age as yours if you're interested. Seems like the Wheatens hatch out more girls than boys... which is fine with me!

I love them too but had the worst time hatching them! You have no idea how many eggs I had to buy to get this little flock! Hoping I can hatch some babies to supplement the girls!
