I can't believe I haven't been on here in over a week! I'm not sure I am even going to try to catch up, definitely not all at once! The hubs and I went to Ikea last Friday and had a great time shopping for furniture and a hilarious time getting it loaded in the vehicle (a hidden camera could have made money for someone). We have been assembling the furniture every evening since then and I have spent very little time online.
Amy, we still want to visit you, if we can get a nice string of decent, dry days. All that rain really messed things up when Lou and I were off work.
I'm surprised that it is already time for dixiebeast to have chicks hatching. So exciting! I have to tell myself daily that I will NOT buy an incubator. There is nowhere to put the chicks once they get bigger, so that helps a little.
Our girls will be 20 weeks old on Monday. The SLW's are really getting their wattles and earlobes now. The combs are a little slower. The Buff Orps are starting to get some wattles and definitely redder earlobes.
When do we need to put out oyster shell for them? They are still on chick starter, so I know they will need the extra calcium. I just wasn't sure when. Lou Ann is really hoping for eggs for Thanksgiving, but I have a feeling it may be more like Christmas since the days are shorter now.
I hope everyone (and their critters) have stayed healthy. I hated reading about Larkspurs cocci attack again. Maybe the ammonia will do the trick.
I'm glad to be back and maybe now that everything is put together, I'll be around more once again.
