Try carrying him around under your arm for a few minutes. I was able to get one under control by carrying him while I did chicken chores.
I did that several times and it worked. If it doesn't work, put him in a pot of chicken and dumplings.
I had one that stuck his spur into my leg the first day I wore shorts this past spring. Hurt like the dickens. I kept honey on it for several days and it did not get infected. (honey has an antibiotic effect) He ended up in a friends stew pot.
