I finally got my Facebook going so I sent you a friend request. Or rather the DD did. She is having more fun with my page than I am!

Hey Amy - I was going to send you a friend request on FB but I can't find you! How many names have you got girl? Can you tell me how much the milk is at the Dairy? I have a friend looking for someplace to buy milk regularly and I told her I would find out. Do they have store hours? Is this Mabry's Dairy?

I am on Facebook as West Knoll Farm.

Mabry stays sold out most of the time. They milk at 5:30 am and 5:00 pm so the milk is in the cooler for about 30 minutes before sold out. They are looking for more cows to buy. Like us, they can't keep a good product in stock.
There must be some people that know you that buy milk there since I saw a few of your egg cartons brought in for re-use. People come in to buy milk and eggs and bring back their empty cartons. I use the milk jugs to store water in here or as feeders or waterers for my chickens. I have stopped buying water containers. They are made cheap and do not last. I already have the milk jugs, now.

Poor baby!

Yes, I know the change thing. I keep a lot of ones only because I sell eggs for $3 dz and have so many on hand. But yeah, I get the "I want $30 worth of chicks, do you have change for $100?" Wish I was rich enough to carry a hundred dollar bill around! Geez, if I have that much money on hand I am racing for the feed store!

OMG, 4 pens empty. I was writing down how I want to change breeding pens around this coming Sat. Here it is the shuffle game for breeding pens but I do not want more pens. Too much work. I suppose if I left everyone out to run around all the time I would not have as much work but I can't do that. Everyone needs to have their own spot and space.
Four empty pens.....how dreamy.......

I would be tempted to say:

I give change in roosters.

Not like we don't have extras, right?

Whoot! My silkie mixes are coming today. (should arrive today they are coming from a state away and left yesterday) I can't wait! I love getting birds in the mail! Feels like Christmas!

I can say #1 is definitely not a buff. I don't have buffs and have a chick like that. Looks to be a splash. But we will have to wait and see because mine is from a blue partridge hen & a splash roo..... I am thinking the gray markings may be the partridge gene.

#2 - I can't really tell. Either blue or a mixed color I would think.

My blues are very dark at hatch and most of the time as chicks too.

I am no help on the cochins.... that is more Amy's area of expertise!

Wish I had thought of that--I have a few Silkies! Actually I met the person some place besides the house as this was a Craig's List sale and I do not invite them to the house.

Amy, only 2 of the empty pens are kennels. The other 2 are small pens. I am going to put the coral blue guineas in the one large kennel and not sure what will go in the other but one.

One of the small pens I am putting my marans chicks to get the out of the shed. I already think I see a sprig on one of my marans cockerel's comb. I think there might be some culling with this bunch before they are big enough to eat. My other hatch of BC Marans, from a better source, are due to hatch this Friday--well, Friday will be day 21. Unforunately many of those eggs are turning out clear. If I can just get a decent roo out of the bunch. Hope you haven't put that black marans roo in the freezer yet Amy, I might need to get him from you. I wish I had gone that route as it would have saved me time and money.

Well, Lydia is not feeling much better this morning. If she is not better tomorrow we are going to the doctor. She is up now playing and acting alittle better. Of course I have gotten it now too.

I really want to clean those pens but maybe tomorrow.....

I'll tell you as best as I can see in the photos. You know pictures can be deceiving but this is what I see.....

The first chick looks like a buff with blue. You can see my fella that grew up from a chick that looked like this on my website. Under Sizzles and Silkie page, I just call him Buff Boy. However, depending on the assorted genetics yours may grow up differently.

The second photo looks to be a black but it could be a dark blue and I am seeing a lot of color from the flash. Blacks are usually a deeper color than that but if it is mixed you may get a washed out black color when grown.

Third photo is a black. Yes, it could be a split. You would not know unless you bred it when older. The lav gene is not obvious. This one is carrying another gene since the phenotype shows the tuxedo pattern.

I do not care much for Facebook but DD knows a bit about it and so many of my friends ask me to join them there so I figured I would give it a whorl. I really do not have time for it all but so far some high school friends have found me and we are getting reacquainted.

Glad you found me! I found Jackie. Or rather, DD did. Now we are looking for Kimberly!

I would say you are right on the partridge silkie with number one. I got some eggs this summer that were said to be buffs and I got 2 chicks out of them that looked like that and are now very partridge looking(I should say without the black chest a partridge should have). Really can not tell with the others but number 2 is not buff, maybe blue are a black with orange highlights.
