Maybe we will find you some new kids when we go Sat.

Oh honey you know we will. Sorry to vent to you so early!! But I know you'll listen to me!

So sorry to hear this Jackie - did anybody come home today?

Can somebody tell me what "tetra tent" hens are? Someone on CL has them for sale and I've never heard this term before. Is this another term for hybrids?

And while I'm asking - someone on CL keeps advertising white oak acorns for sale for $20 a box. I have LOTS of acorns, why would someone buy them? Anybody know?

Oh RedBug thanks so much for posting pics of the fencing and sand. Cause I'm still trying to figure out the lay out of my coop and framing around it but this helped what's the frame made out of??? How tall is yours? OH and Beautiful MilleFleur d'Uccles!!!

Moonchild, it is a dog kennel that we bought used this past spring. Got it for a very good deal from a man that got rid of his pit bull. I posted a "Wanted Ad" on Craig's List for used kennels and bought about 4 used kennels for the chickens that way. Paid anywhere from $65 to $100 for them though but that way I did not have to build anything. This black one is a 5' x 10' kennel and my DH put roofing tin on top so it stays very dry inside with the traps around it and it is also under a good tree for shade. It a person could weld or build frames some how you could put any wire on them. My problem is always making a decent door. I am build a pen right now with 4 posts in the ground that I am going to frame and put wire and tin on similar to this but hubby is going to have to help me figure a door.

We had a whole dump truck load of sand delivered this summer after the Cocci issues with the polish and I keep clean sand in the pens as much as I can--they scratch and dig it around but it keeps everything very dry. I will post a picture of the guineas pen later that I have done similar.

Tetra Tints are a mixed breed bird made by a hatchery. You can look up the thread here on BYC as many got theirs from TSC as chicks. They are like our sex links, just mixed breeds that lay well. But Tetra Tints are from one hatchery only and I think it was Ideal but it could be a different one. I forget. The things hatcheries can get away with, geez! I would love to mix up some breeds and call it something special and rare and still maintain a decent reputation.

This time of year acorns are very helpful for deer hunters and maybe even turkey hunters. My chickens will eat them some but not a lot.

Heidi,
we are in the same boat! I have so much trouble with doors!
I love my kennels for those nice affordable prices but unfortunately, I can't seem to keep them from catching the wind when I put a wind break up for them. It changes direction too much. Time for a new plan.

I was told by someone (can't remember who) that they were made for TSC only. They looked like EE as chicks.
