Yeah, they usually have a show every Dec around Orangeburg. It usually falls on the same day as the Guinea Pig shows that are in Columbia. All poultry shows fall on the same day as Guinea Pig and Rabbit shows for some reason. There are shows tomorrow down in Atlanta that we used to always go to and miss the poultry show here in Clemson but not this year!

I think Pink had a good idea - just drive up to Charlotte for the day, then back that evening. Of course I love to drive most times, and do a LOT of it (I just never get anywhere fun or interesting lol).

Maybe by next year you could host it at the farm!

I so badly wanted to fly out to CO and see the lights in the snow on a sleigh ride for Christmas but DH and DD are not going to get on a plane and I am not driving. Then I spent way too much money working on the farm so that dream is shot.
We just don't get together with my sister and her family or DH's brother since our parents have passed away. They don't care for us so we do not even try. I have a lot to do here on the farm in just chores and it is very stressful to cook and clean for get togethers.
I must admit though, I miss my parents.

I got you guys on here!

Tell me about the cleaning part! My house is still a wreck! I tried to get out of thanksgiving completely this year LOL So mom is having it at her house. Which gives me a couple extra weeks to get this crap carried out of here to Goodwill or trash it. I should not start cleaning out attic & closets all together at once.

I have been working on it for 6 months!

Good advice all around. Silkies generally do not roost. When I have one stuck in one place, like just at the fence, it usually means they can't see. Just trim her bangs a bit. She looks decent quality except her feet but who cares? Nice! Is she your only silkie? I can't remember. If so, you should get a few more for her and I know just the place.

DD got me a white roo somewhere today and a black hen...I have a bue roo and black roo I adopted from DD. But I have them together outside and Sapphire inside in a very large dog crate...I will get the ones from DD tomorrow. The white roo will come inside with Sapphire in the crate and I am going to try out the black hen in with the two boys outside...

I hope that works out...geez I need more coops!!!

I wish you would have come here! I have some very nice white boys for sale.

I dare not put out anything that big for my birds. They eat it all while standing around talking. I measure out their food in the evenings quite often and then they must go free range for food if they consume everything in the feeders.

My ducks are much better at foraging then the chickens. Even with food still in their tubs they go out in the front pasture to graze but the chickens just stand around the feeders and never leave. I find a lot of food scratched out or in my tall hoppers I find that they have "beaked" it out. They are much better eaters when they have to eat when they are actually hungry.

My tractored or penned birds are fed more free choice but I still measure it out about every day so I know how much they are eating and how much they are wasting. And I try to keep it low enough not to attract mice. In the free range tubs in the barn yard I have to watch for deer and turkey wanting to come up and eat it so I try not to leave much out. It seems there is always some that is left each night that i have to pick up before coming up to the house though.

None of mine free range so it's all free choice. No one looks overly fat! We do have mice though. Wish Kitty Witty would step up the mice patrol.

If it were only that easy! Then we would miss the sing-a-long that will be going all night. I'm not kidding. It will work out. We're taking my mother-in-law with us and she wants to stay until Saturday. Next year it's at my farm!

Will it be a cuckoo colored wyandotte? It is very pretty and a lot quieter than the silkies. It just snuggles up to the silkie chicks and falls a sleep.
