I've been busy since Tuesday or Wednesday and haven't been on. Just finished reading 20 pages to catch up! I'm glad everyone made it through the stormy weather on Wednesday without damage. My daughter works and lives about 10 miles from where the tornado hit in Rock Hill. She had to work late, or would have been on the road in the middle of it. I told her not to ever complain about working late again-sometimes there is a reason for it.
Congratulations, Jackie, on your new little chick! That is exciting. I'm glad everyone had fun at the show yesterday and those who wanted chickens got them and those who wanted to resist, were able to!
Lou Ann and I added some shavings to the coop and let the girls out for awhile. They always make me laugh when they go running across the yard, flapping their wings, at least until they are doing that to keep from going into the run! No eggs yet, but I did notice that our maran was much calmer. Usually, if you try to handle her she fusses like crazy. Yesterday, Lou Ann picked her up and she only gave her a couple of small clucks. When she put her back down, she actually stayed in the same place instead of running off with the others. She has also gotten more of a comb, earlobes, and wattles in this last week or two. It's not going to happen before Thanksgiving, like Lou Ann had hoped, but maybe by Christmas.
Here is a picture of our Maranda, the Cuckoo Maran and one of the Silver Laced Wyandottes, Lacey. They discovered they could get up on this wagon and swing set frame and were having fun.
