You can get some at Walmart or a Health Food store. most come in capsules that are easy to open and put in the water or juice. I have some stuff in tablets that i have to crush up and dissolve before adding to the waterers.

If you believe it to be Mareks then start her on St John's Wort. It is horrible to try to get dissolve but I open the capsule and mash up about 1/4 of it and put in a cup of water where I stir and stir or in a small bottle where I can shake until my arm hurts to make it dissolve. St John's Wort is good for Mareks symptoms if you catch it early enough. However, if you notice her worsen then immediately stop it.

A friend of mine on FB posted this and I got a kick out of it. I thought I would share a smile with you all today.

"Hello, is this the Sheriff's Office?''
''Yes, What can I do for you?''
"I'm calling to report 'bout my neighbor Virgil Smith.... He's hiding marijuana inside his firewood! Don't quite know how he gets it inside them logs, but he's hidin' it there.''
''Thank you very much for the call, sir.''
The next day, the Sheriff's Deputies descend on Virgil's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood but find no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave.
Shortly after, the phone rings at Virgil's house. ''Hey, Virgil, This here's Floyd.... Did the Sheriff come?''
''Yeah!''
''Did they chop your firewood for the winter?''
''Yep!''
''Happy Birthday, buddy!''

The good news.... our appraisal just came in and is good. That was our last hurdle. We close on our house next Friday! I've been sweating every step of the way. I hope nothing happens. Our movers are coming Monday to pack us up and put everything in storage. Which means I need to get the whole house packed up sometime this weekend.

The bad news... I just had to shell out almost $900 for feed. Yikes! Hope it lasts longer than a week.

Joy! I just got an email from that crazy man. I about threw up. But then I read it.

visited you around the first week of October and chose two of your wheaten marans chicks. Im the guy that held them up by the head and the little birds legs stayed straight down. Well, I have two beautiful PULLETS! They are spoiled rotten as I kept them in the sitting area of my bedroom for the first 5 weeks of their life and now living outside in a 6 x 15 ft run and have a heated area 16" x 22" within the sheltered area for warmth. Again, thank you for two beautiful birds!

That was nice. I'm not going to answer back. I don't want to encourage another visit. He swore that holding them by the heads and watching their legs would tell him boy vs. girl. Could that be in any way true?

When I bought my first 10 orpingtons in georgia the guy I bought them from said the same thing! He said the males will kick, the females wouldn't. He also said he had a 70 -80-% success rate being right. The chicks were only 5 days old and Out of ten he was off by 2- that's 80% correct.
Don't know if it is true, but apparently he could tell.

I have heard that for many years and some swear by it.
I have yet to really test the theory since I have so many chicks all the time to keep up with already with coding systems.
I ought to do it with my Marans this go around. My blue Marans (Splash roo over blk copper hens) are hatching out so I want to make sure I keep plenty of girls back.
