Nope, I sold all the roos already. They went at the August sale and I have not set any more eggs. I have so many new girls laying in their pen right now I do not know which ones are the Cochin's eggs so I do not set any. I need to move all the new layers out but they are happy in there for now. I have Brahmas, sex links, SLWs and some Partridge Rocks laying now and all look a lot alike. The Java in there has already gone broody after laying only about 10 eggs. I won't get more of that breed.

Give her an IOU and I will hatch some in another month or so when I get everyone moved to the free range flock. Though these girls do go out in the back paddock during the day to feed so they may just find their way back into this pen to lay, too. It may take me a while to convince them to lay in the free range coop so I will know I am collecting the correct breed of eggs. Buffy Ann is still laying pretty good but she always has until she goes broody around April.

I know!!! He hangs out with his roral purple lady friend and they carry on all day together, much to the annoyment of the chickens.

Well, I'm 11 weeks today, ultrasound next week! I got sick at the movies on Sunday (random), and apaprently my signature pregnancy move is to yak in the front yard. So classy. I'm craving milk!!!! And ginger salad dressing. And Publix subs. And I can't eat eggs right now!!! I'm totally grossed out by the texture. So weird.

I had a dream that I coudl see my baby at 6 months old and she had on little white tights and a red dress and was playin with blocks on the living room floor. Of course she was the most beautiful child I have ever seen in my life

So do you think it will be a girl? I had a dream before I knew Lydia was going to be a girl too. It will be fun to see if you are right! It was so amazing to me when Lydia was born, I did not think I could love anything so much of think something could be so beautiful. Of course she is in her terrible twos right now but I keep telling myself it is all good! And it is!! Enjoy this time tough and get all you sleep you can because in about 8 more months you will not sleep for a long time!

LOL Don't scare her, Heidi!

I knew I was going to have a girl, too. But I was very lucky and DD slept pretty much all night from the start. No colic, no fussing, nothing. She would wake up and gurgle and coo and I would get up and change her diaper, nurse her and lay her back down in her crib. She would fall right back to sleep and let me sleep every morning. Never any problems, not even at 2, 3 or 4 years old.
However, she is going on 17 now and I have had some rough times with her sassy mouth. I guess she is making up for it! LOL

Sorry, Jackie! I don't mean to scare you there either!

Like Heidi says, it is all good. They are precious.

Welcome to our SC thread!
Pull up a crate, sit right down and tell us all about your farm. What do you have now and do you all garden and can, too?
Spring is around the corner and we talk some gardening as well as chickens and other livestock.
We do tend to be a chatty bunch. You won't meet any friendlier folks than us guys!

I loved being pregnant! That would be awesome if your dream comes true. Will you find out the sex when it's time? We did with one but not the other.

I'm with Susanne. I loved being pregnant. For some reason I thought I was the most special person in the world! Oh, I knew there had been millions of others before me but I just was so happy. Really great hormones, I suppose. What a shame I could never get pregnant again. I would have liked to have another. I think.

They could not tell me what gender I was carrying when they did the ultrasound but I just knew it was a girl.
Could you tell, Susanne? Heidi knew hers was a girl so I always wonder if others can tell.

Heidi, is it about time for another?

You need more farm workers.

Oh yes I am a planner! You can go to the 3D/4D place here in town at 14 weeks. If they can't see it at 14 weeks, you can keep going back for free til they see (or don't see) something.

We're headed to Iowa for the holidays and none of my mom's side of the family knows so it should be a rowdy christmas with 30 people!!!

Have fun and enjoy your last quiet(?) Christmas. Kids make Christmas so much fun!
You will be hugged flat by the time your holidays are over! What fun!

When you kid is as spoiled as mine ..... I will laugh my butt off

I was sick as a dog first three and last three months with her..... and she had a lot of hair when she was born.

Of course I did not know I was having a girl til she got here ... but I wanted a boy

Now I have a mini version of me with a dash of my mom thrown in for good measure.

I tell my mom that when I was growing up & she said "just wait til you have kids" , she forgot the rest of the sentence which should have been "The kids will act like their grandmother!"

After a while you really do not notice the noise! I hear mine outside right now disturbed by something though--Oh, I guess I do hear the noise still....

DH was outside the other day, all four of mine were yelling at him.

The noise was deafening & was driving him crazy. He asked if it bothered me and I looked at him with a straight face and said "What noise?"

You are so bad!

AMY

I am starting to think Forrest just does not like that little boy. She keeps him in the corner when she sees me....I can't pet him or she pecks me.

She still does the rooster dance and comes up for some wing scratches.

IDK if she knows what to do with that little fella

You, hush! You got a good kid! Spoiled, yes, but in a good way.

And you have both, a girl and a boy!
big_smile.png
She can hold her own with any of them. Cute and prissy like a girl and tough like a boy.

I don't how your mom is but that is funny! She may not like to hear she is anything like her grandmother though!

Are you all going to your Mom's for Christmas? Are you taking Pop or does he just stay home? Or does he go to Todd's brother's house for Christmas? I bet Nicole cooks him a little something special. Okay, she makes sure you do, anyhow!

Little heathen! I am sure he will eventually get her to come around. He needs to mature a bit more. She is kinda bossy. Don't know why she turned out like that.
roll.png

I bet the spring will get her to thinking she needs her a man. She will probably let him breed her, lay 2 eggs and go broody on you!
