If I were cooking at my house I would tell you to come on! My mom says I cook too much when I cook.......I got it from my grandma I guess. She always fixed enough to feed a small army at holidays.

I miss baking cookies, sweets, cupcakes and all of that. IDK why I stopped.

We are only having ham, rolls, mashed potatoes, green peas, mac & cheese, veggie casserole, deviled eggs, and a couple of pies.

I offered to bring a fresh chicken

And Todd told her he had some hams..Deer hams.........

Pop told me the other week I need to stop messing with my chickens so much and get my butt back in the kitchen and start cooking again!

I was sick as a dog first three and last three months with her..... and she had a lot of hair when she was born.

Of course I did not know I was having a girl til she got here ... but I wanted a boy

Now I have a mini version of me with a dash of my mom thrown in for good measure.

I tell my mom that when I was growing up & she said "just wait til you have kids" , she forgot the rest of the sentence which should have been "The kids will act like their grandmother!"

DH said it will be a girl to punish him for being such a little s@#t when he was little. Awesome. Super pumped about that.

I know what you mean! I would love to have had another but it took a long time to get that one and only by the grace of God because we didn't do anything medical. And never had another and now I know I won;t because I have been going through the old woman thing for a few years.

But it's all good, right? We love the ones we have and enjoy every precious moment with them!
I just wish I could back up and enjoy it all again. Video just doesn't do it justice.

And you are right! We will vicariously through Jackie and Farmer John and others with their wee ones!

What a blessing these children are to us as we have struggled to have more and were unable to. There is a plan and we may not know it but are happy with what we have.

Your puppy is a miniature horse!

I am glad Cole is enjoying him, too.

I know I'm asking for trouble here, but...

The way you all are with chicken math, count your blessings.

Yall make me feel guilty...I must have been made to have kids because I NEVER had morning or any sickness...only heart burn one time( I had never felt that and ended up at doc LOL) and had what would have been easy deliveries except I was in a bad hospital with my first! I had an appt for Mon morn to be induced( no prob but Dixie was determined not to be born) and my water broke sunday night! They stopped my labor and my doctor happened to show right at my appt time! I was sooo drugged I dont remember much! With my som in GREENWOOD I had an awsome time! It was a big party!! Sorry you are having such a rought first Tri Jackie!

Hey guys,

I had asked a while back about obtaining some hatching eggs in the Easley area and I never really followed up on your answers to my own question. Well, I have my incubator back from being repaired just in time for a coyote to take half my flock. I would really love to buy some locally if any of you folks would be willing to sell. We aren't partial to any one type but I lost a couple of white leghorns and would like to replace those for sure. One of our neighbors who buys eggs from my son is a white egg eater only, and we're going to run short on those. Other than that, I would really like to experiment with a couple of other egg laying or meat breeds. So, ideally, I would love to have a mixed dozen with 2 or 3 white leghorns. This is probably asking a lot, but I wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone has something that could help me. Thanks so much!!

Pat, I answered you on the FB page also, but Dorkings are a very desirable bird from my stand point and they are a very old breed from what I have read. I just looked them up again this morning and see that they are a 5 toed breed. If his fit the description of a true Dorking I would think they would be a very good breed to have--as I said on FB, I would buy some hatching eggs from you! I have actually been looking for someone that sell their eggs. Let me know if you do get some but check them out and make sure he has not introduced any other breeds and that they at least still meet basic standards. If they do I would go for it--and you can sell me some eggs!!

Thanks for the input! I plan to visit after we get past the holidays. He is the Father of a lady I work with and since me and her are in our 50's and she was raised with these I believe he may just have some good birds! It's all he has and likes! LOL...I'll let you know. If nothing else I can get us some hatching eggs

Oh Patsy, I think Dorkings are wonderful! I am just starting with them after being on a waiting list for 6 months I have 7 chicks shipped from California. They are known to have gourmet meat and eggs. I think it would be wonderful, they are a very threatened breed that has been around at least since the time of the Romans. What I can tell already is that my birds have great personalities and are very calm. Is this guy in SC? I didn't think anyone in the state had Dorkings. If you're selling the eggs to eat, they are supposed to go broody regularly (a plus for me since I like hen broodies), but it does cut down the number of eggs. I think you'd do great on hatching eggs and chicks though, a lot of people are interested and just can't find them.

Oh this sounds great! He is actually local but just an old farmer - a co-workers Father. He has always had this breed. I don't think he knows what a computer is...lol. My friend that grew up on the farm then became a city girl is not into chickens but is going to take me over and introduce me! I am even more eggcited now! I have been reading up on them some...
