Thanks for the input! I plan to visit after we get past the holidays. He is the Father of a lady I work with and since me and her are in our 50's and she was raised with these I believe he may just have some good birds! It's all he has and likes! LOL...I'll let you know. If nothing else I can get us some hatching eggs

Oh Pat, I would love some hatching eggs to feed my addiction!! My incubator is almost empty!

Maybe if I sneak it in on him one evening. When cooked the meat is just dark? Not black? How about the bones?

Pigmentation is a skin trait. People of African descent have red muscle tissue and white bones. Likewise for silkies (relative to normal chickens).

The few I've dressed out had all dark meat / tissue and dark bones. I have bred large fowl with the same dark skin / meat / bones traits.
