No less than 6 relatives asked me when I was getting rid of the chickens when the baby comes. Did I miss something? I'll be on maternity leave for 12 weeks- I'll have even more time to get more!!!!
When I had Leah, I had 10 crates of show dogs in my living room and my ex sister in law had lots of nasty things to say about that. Leah grew up crawling around with a lot of Boston Terriers and took her baby naps in one of the more cozy crates. Most all of my family was shocked but after all these years with a really healthy child that makes really good grades and is a good kid, I guess those dogs didn't "poison" her at all. LOL
Those chickens will help your child be healthy, not sickly. Geez! HOW did the pioneers ever survive???

I know people who are germaphobes and thier kids are always sick...but the ones I know who let thier kids touch animals and play in dirt are always the healthy kids!! LIKE OURS!!

I've actually been told that it's a good idea to keep a few straight combed birds in the breeding flock. She sure looks like a silver laced wyandotte to me. Not sure about the leg color though.

That's good to know. As babies, they looked just alike. When I posted a picture on her, thinking something was wrong with Lacey's comb, someone commented that Kacey had the normal comb, it was Cagney that did not have the one that usually seen on a SLW. I will have to find a picture of her leg sometime and post it. The other thing about these two- Lacey, who has more white on her head, has a white butt. Cagney, has a little more black on her head and a dark butt. I think Gid knew we were getting old and needed help telling them apart!

So happy for your egg and eggs-to-come! Has the Ameraucana laid yet? How old is she now?
Anyone here ever hatch seramas? I am totally unexperienced and I need some tips before my eggs arrive!
I've only hatched eggs twice before and my hatch rates were poor. (1 out of 12) and then (7 out of 40) 0_o I'm already preparing myself that only a few to none will actually hatch for me since I'm apparently terrible at incubating eggs. xD
