Okay... what's going on? Has everyone fallen off the face of the earth? Was there an earthquake in SC and I don't know about it? Where is everyone!? Usually when I log on, I have four pages to catch up on.

I have been wondering the same thing. Also wondering what happened to the beautiful weather we were supposed to have today. I expected sun and upper 50's or low 60's. Instead I have clouds and low-mid 50's. On the bright side-there were two eggs this morning! The girls are getting the hang of it!

Not sure where everyone is, I expect work or getting ready for the weekend. I too wonder where the sun is, I thought it was going to be a beautiful day, well it sure isnt very warm and with only clouds and a dreary sky, it makes it colder.

So I spent the day cleaning the house, ready for the new year. Robert is working late tonight doing year end backups at his clients, so its a quiet day here. The flock is out free rangeing. I keep checking on them, so far they seem content. No sight of the hawk, but I will say the flock is way more aware of hawks, and they run for cover.

We had a really close call a couple weekends ago. Hawk almost got a Guinea, so everytime the guineas sound off, I am out checking to see where everyone is.

Cold and cloudy here too! WINDY...brrr! I swear it looks like snow clouds banking up! I hope this wind is here to blow the clouds out and leave with them! I am so looking forward to having those couple warm sunny days the weatherman promised so I can get some outside work done and be a little comfortable doing it! I have 3 days off instead of the usual 2 week-end days and have so much on my list I WANT to do but...as usual...I bet I don't get half done!!!

I spent most of a decent day outside...it clouded up after lunch but was gone in 2 hours...then took the kids to thier Aunt Juds for the night! That is what I did all day!!

Today I put Frontline on all my chickens. Lets hope they don't keel over and die.

And a HAWK has staked claim on my yard! I'm furious. Told my husband to shoot it with a gun that will bring it down next time. He hit it with a BB gun to scare it off. What should I do?? I'm seriously contemplating a large dog to watch the chickens, but I'm afraid it will be unfriendly with my terriers/cats. *shrug* I live in a residential area and only have about an acre of land.

i am not looking forward to cold weather next week.. but its inevitable.. my flock has just been fine. nothing exciting to say about them.. except that if the utility room door is left open for even a min. half the flock is in my kitchen acting like the dogs looking for scraps. ahhhh.. they are not as dumb as people think.. they have figured out the paterns of the dogs and the people . in and out of the house and know what time to be on the step.. and the peeping into the windows.. hahaa.. its a whole flock of peeping toms.. ...

Dixie girl wow you have had a big first chicken year.. what kind of cochins are you getting batam or standards.?

Im so glad that so far Im having a good winter.. summer heat was rough.. my girls are happy and laying.. Im thinking that 2012 is gonna be a great year..

I have learned today that Rufus, the biggest of the Pyrs, is afraid of fireworks. Someone is setting them off out here. He somehow got out of the pasture and is currently pressed against the front door.
