Jolie is scared to death of gunshots/fireworks and runs off, tearing down the hog wire fence or gates or whatever is in her way. I usually lock her in the barn but have been chaining her up when we open the gates so I will try that tomorrow night. Hope the chain holds!

HaHa...Hate them cats or not...she is awesome! She wouldn't harm a flea unless it threatened her flocks and peoples...LOL...but I bet if it was even a Sherman Tank threatening SHE would WIN!!! I loved meeting Jolie! I am still looking for an LGD that will suit my environment...I know it would suit me...alll animals love me! I just cannot have a roamer or I would have to tie it (live on a highway and do not have a perimeter fence but house fronts the property and ALL life and living and fun happens behind the house and out back)! The only thing that goes out front is the truck going out to work with me in it...LOL What would be the point in having a tethered LGD?!? LOL I think looking for a mature dog would work best and one that can sense boundaries. Had several like that over the years that just found me mysteriously and took up with me. Seems all my life I have always lived on a main highway...never had fences...suddenly as much as I need a LGD I am afraid of the road?!? LOL...My toy teacup elderly chuahuaha is just not doing a good job of guarding anything but the inside chicks in the brooder!!!

Chain hold Jolie??? No way I can imagine! I had a Rottie once that snapped a logging chain just to greet his favorite policeman stopping by to chat! Wish I had a video of that! Was washing dishes in the back of the house when I heard sirens going off and ran to front door...Houdini (rottie escape artist) was standing on police cruiser and (nameless friend) policeman was in car with lights/siren on trying to get my attention cause he was afraid to get out!!! LOL...HE (Houdini) actually thought he was the size of a Chuahuaha!!! (he was probably 140+ pounds and still growing) Such a friendly animal! Miss him and many others over the years! Waggles is another story and the one I probably miss the most other than Fluffy that I grew up with. Dixiebeast brought me waggles (which earned her other name from me that I cannot say here on family BYC...LOL).

i think our baby roo is growing up. This morning he got a drink, Put his neck high in the air, tilted his head back, opend his mouth and i'm pretty sure he gargled. It may have been his first attempt at crowing

An Anatolian is another good choice. They have a much shorter and easier to maintain coat than a Pyr, but have the same loving and extremely protective nature. In the winter, my Kota will curl up with the cats for warmth. They absolutely love him. We also have a shih-tzu, and she is definitely the boss of him. He wouldn't dare bother her

He's good with the chickens. When he makes a warning bark at a threat, the birds either run to get behind him or run for cover to the chicken house. I haven't lost a bird to a predator with him around

So Robert told you about our little roo growing up. Well he has been trying all day to thow his head back and get some sort of a noise out. It absolutly makes you laugh at him trying to crow, but has absolutly no idea what noise he should make.

I have also now seen him on a hen so I expect we will be getting fertile eggs soon too!!! One of the hens, SUe, absolutly challenges him and will not let him near her back. SUch a sight.

Crazy chickens, but you got to love the entertainment.
