They act more like sisters, too! Them two together can make me laugh so hard I almost split a gut! They are loads of fun to be around. Glad you got to go out, Miss Kimberly!

It was a gorgeous day yesterday and I got a good bit done while DH slept in the chair most of the day. How someone can spend 12 hours in bed and then get up for 3 hours and fall asleep in the chair for another 4 hours and then get up to eat and go back to bed to sleep another 9 hours is beyond me. I am happy to get 6 hours of sleep at night. Old age is a real bummer!

Today is not too bad. I have gotten some stuff done but want to do way more. However, the dump isn't open and I have about 2 truck loads of trash that I need to haul off. This mess is a place!

I did get a lot done outside the last 2 days...but now for the inside...(rather be doing the outside stuff but guess I should put forth a little effort to find the countertops and floor...I know there are some under there...LOL)

I am rearranging my juvies outside so I can move some more out and realized that when I moved thier heat lamp last night they were able to get too close...all of them have burned feathers!! I feel awfull, they look awfull, but seem fine otherwise...
hide.gif

I am moving my bigger ones into a more open box with a light so my younger ones can go in the warmer setup...since the bigger juvies were being ugly the other night and I had to bring them in...I know we have to learn lessons the hard way but this was too much today

And my new roo is so scared of his new gals he hides all day...at first they were curious but he would freak so bad that now they do pick at him...and my big wire crate has someones(mom...lol) returned silkie roo in it so I cant put the 2 bad girls in jail so he can be one on one with the nice girl...I thought they were all docile but not with scardy cat!! Any suggestions?? I am thinking of moving him pout a few days to recoup ...he was picked on before I got him and I bet he has never even crowed...I wonder if being alone will let him calm down and then try is he mans up and atleats crows?? HELP?? He will be such a pretty boy for my gals....

Huh that is strange- I have no problem doing that right now!

That stinks. I was hoping he would come into his own. He didn't really hide here but he did keep to himself and out of the way of the other roos. I always saw him around the girls though. Hmmmm.... Come on, guy! Man up!

It's a little warmer than it's supposed to be .... I think. Still not nearly as nice as yesterday. We made a lot of progress on my big chicken coop yesterday. Got the main wall up, the front wall and door is up and all that's left is the back wall and door. Then the roosts and nest boxes. And water and electricity but I'm getting excited. I can move the birds without electricity. I've got extension cords!

Everybody got fresh bedding yesterday so hopefully they're all warm - dogs, goats, chickens etc. There's never a dull moment on the farm. I look out the window this morning and see all of my beautiful white fantail pigeons walking around in my front yard! The pen door had fallen open and everybody was "free ranging"! I had a quick panic attack and rushed outside with a scoop of seed hoping they would be preoccupied eating the treats and I could scoop them up. Well, the seed hit the ground and about a dozen BIG chickens came running. That did not help with catching my pigeons. I finally got them all back in the pen, including my little BB Red hen. And while I'm securing the door I keep hearing "cheep, cheep, cheep". So I start looking and low and behold my serama hen has hatched babies. What are these birds thinking??? And if you've never seen serama babies, they are teeny tiny. So they're popping out the crack in the door and walking all over the yard. Had to rig up some kind of board to keep them from popping through the door. I'd already put 1/4 x 1/4 hardware cloth all around the pen as they had babies in there this summer too. So I have 3 tiny new little serama chicks, hope they survive this weeks cold weather. And I'm a bit jealous of all those happy New Year's Eve party stories. I welcomed in the new year while washing eggs. And spent the first day of the new year working my backside off. My Dad tells me I'll be working on that barn and washing eggs all year now. According to him you're not supposed to clean or work on the first day of the new year as that is what you'll do all year long. Amy - you know what your DH will do all year!

You'll be wishing you'd woke him up and put him to work. I'm glad you all had fun, the food sounds wonderful. I usually cook all that yummy stuff but this year we had a sandwich at 11:00 pm. I'm a tired girl. And it's time to go out and check on everybody again. Stay warm everybody - it's supposed to be nice again Saturday.

Oh, am I the same way or what???? DH said he was going to pick up his mess from all his "experiments " the past few days but there is crap laying everywhere and tomorrow when he goes back to work and DD goes back to school, Mama is going on a big cleaning spree!

Oh! the poor fella!
I had 2 Ameraucana roos in together and I knew eventually one might start beating up on the other so I moved one out to his own pen, leaving the 12 girls in the old pen.
The girls in the new pen did not take too kindly to him but he said "Tough! I am man, hear me crow!" And he crowed for his first time! He whooped up on them and crowed and finally got them tamed down. Poor Trojan, his old room mate, kept pacing back and forth along the fence in the other pen upset that he could not keep Billy Bob beat down anymore. But Trojan makes two of Billy Bob and I was worried the day was coming since they are 6 and 7 months old.

Good luck with your new roo. I hope he gets his crowing going!

I am sure he will get there!! I moved the silkie to the empty pen...2 hens are the main ones so tomorrow morn they go in the wire kennel in the coop/run.That will leave just him and one gal to work it out...he still hasnt even crowed! And maybe a couple days of crate and the others will be bottom rank...I will let them out for roost. He does roost with them but he has a hole he does an ostrich impersonation in!

I moved 4 sets of birds and one silkie, cleaned 3 coops and set up the 2 new ones with sand, waterers etc...cleaned house(sorta) and took down christmas! Whew,it was a good productive day with the DH finally out of the house for the day!!LOL

Of course I did my usual farm chores...I hope everyone else had a good monday,it is chilly and windy but not what it will be tomorrow!!!
