They can't treat for heart worms because the medication that was used for is off the market. It was bought out by one company, they cornered the market on it and now that what went in it is no longer available there is no way to make it. The best thing is to use something fairly safe like Revolution and if they have heart worms this will slowly keep them from multiplying and they will eventually die off inside the dog.
I hope that explained it okay. I have been yakking all day and everything sounds goofy to me now. I am getting a sore throat and hope I am not getting sick. My head is kinda swimmy but I haven't eaten til now. And here comes the rain....oh goody.....

Pop's dog has heartworms. During our shot visit right before Christmas I was given a paper at the vet as I am every year.......listing the treatment & costs etc etc. So they still treat there. Not sure what they use though, paper is not at hand right now.

ETA: We found out right after getting him. The heartworms are severe. There is an excellent chance treatment will kill him. We have chose to just keep him happy and do what we can for him. He is a very happy dog. When it comes time, we will have him put to sleep.

There are probably some vets that still have immiticide on hand to treat if they bought in big quantities like Dr Chappell or another long time vet clinic. They get more value when buying large quantities when it goes on sale. Once this was announced all vet clinics that could afford it probably bought as much as they could store.

Okay, I have been playing over on the new site for BYC. I love you guys but I am not sure I can hang with that type of change. I will get a massive migraine from that glaring white screen. That is one thing that drew me to BYC to start with, I like the soft grays and blues on the screen. Glaring white will give me a headache so I may not visit as much once they change.

Okay, maybe it isn't as bad as I thought. I will have to give it more time. There are tons of new great things on there, I love the photo filing and unlimited PMs and so many other things but the too much white will bug me. Maybe it will be different once it is up and running. I am just an old cuss and do not like change.

Kris and I took a puppy to atlanta to ship to Arizona for a friend, and on the way back we stopped at PatientWait farms in piedmont and hung out with some real turkeys. I have got to say, a backyard flock of turkeys is verry impressive. They were roaming around as a herd (make that a flock) big friendly dogs was more like it. but without the licking and rude sniffing. the chickens and turkeys horses, etc were out together, but mostly ignored each other. the turkeys were out bug hunting as a team, sort of like the guineas do. Now i'm relly excited about more turkeys.

Today was a good Day.... I got to work on my d'Uccles run and housing while the other chickens looked on. I never get to see my chickens except on weekends because of the time change. Well I see them but it's with a flashlight that I know they hate, but I gotta check on my girls....and one hateful but useful boy!! lol

The run for the d'uccle is actually bigger than I was planning but I can't wait to get the chicks out so they can run and jump and well be outside chickens!!!
I love good days!!!

Every baby we've had born here has been in the middle of the night. Thankfully Miss Dopey bucked that trend and gave birth this afternoon.... to triplets! I couldn't believe when that third one popped out. She had twins the first two times. I've never watched anything be born like this. It was fascinating and she let me be right by her. The Pyr in there, Keeper, wouldn't leave her side. She wasn't thrilled about that but Keeper was determined to stay close. I love those dogs!

After she had Baby #2, a rainbow appeared over us. No rain, perfectly sunny. It was so strange. I told her God was saying, "Good job, Mama."
