Thanks! I really love baby goats. They are so funny! The lambs we have had just stick with their mamas. I can't wait to have some babydoll lambs though!

Amy, can't wait to see pics of your Muscovys! How do you pronounce that anyway?

Yep...that's spot on. I read in one of the letters sent to us that they're hoping to find another source for what went in the Immiticide. Revolution, Heartgard, Advantage Multin, Iverhart Plus, or Tri-heart are safe to give an animal that may be heartworm positive. Right now our clinic is following what the current recommendations are and we are putting any heartworm positive dogs on Heartgard as well as Doxycycline. It's really unfortunate. FYI the Immiticide treatment was VERY expensive. I say it a million times over...it is SO important to keep your pets on heartworm preventative..especially where we live.

here's a link to an article about the shortage of immiticide (now it isn't available at all) http://news.vin.com/VINNews.aspx?articleId=19471

I am personally very excited about the new site changes. I haven't found BYC to be very easy to navigate. I look forward to more search capabilities and most important unlimited email space so I can save my messages! Just yesterday I was looking for a specific breed in the Breeds thread but there's 800+ pages to look thru, they're not in alphabetical order and when I do a search it searches the whole site so I still had to look through pages and pages of stuff. I hope they change that part of the search.

I agree! There are SO many breed threads. I look foward to being able to find things a little easier.

I am soooooooooo liking it.

Maybe the colors are something that can be changed later. Til then, you can always dim your monitor brightness see if that helps. I do that when I have a migraine.

Yes, I did tinker with it some yesterday and Terri and others told me some things to do to change it, so I did. It helped a lot. I have to have those grays working for me and not bright white. I felt I needed sunglasses on there after being on this system for so long.
I wanted to go play around some more but today I have a lot of meal worm orders to get ready to ship out tomorrow, plus I am shipping out some birds and eggs that I need to get ready (boxes taped up, labels made etc) and I also have to drive over and pick up my gorgeous new pair of Muscovy!!!!

Is it a long o sound or a short o? Which syllable is the most pronounced?

ˈməs-kə-vē\\
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/muscovy
You can click here to hear it. But in the south most all of us use a long o sound in the middle. At least that is the way I've always heard it pronounced. Musk O vee But we have our own language down here. I once had a man asking me about "Cockin" chickens. I laughed outloud when I realized he was talking about Cochins!

I didn't know that, my vet was still treating just a few months ago. That is awful, why would any company want to remove something that is medically working and needed? People pay lots of money to have their pets treated so they surely were making money from it.

They didn't remove it because they wanted to. They had to because one of the ingredients, as I understand it, has become unavailable from another country. All this out sourcing causes problems in every field and will eventually be our demise. First for our animals and then for us.
It has only been about 6 months since this happened. Several of my friends are vets and told me about it. I have not researched it to confirm anything though as I have no interest at this point. Just passing along info I received from very reliable sources.
I am sure the companies will rally around and find other ways to get more immiticide made or bring out a new product but I think a new product may take years unless they were already working on one but there wasn't any info known on that.
Meantime, a lot of vets had stored back some cartons of immiticide for use or are going the slow route with Revolution or such.

We have several vet techs on here that may be in the know. Hopefully we will hear from one of them.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know this. I do know lots of dog rescue people use other means of treating heartworm positive dogs because of the cost (some use horse meds).
