Good morning
I am not very computer literate. I know just enough to be dangerous.

I have avoided joining facebook because of the problems that I have heard about it.
But now I am considering it to get my daily chicken fix.

(Never thought I would say that.

Have you all had good experiences and are there some good chicken post on there?

Also is there a good chicken auction site anywhere since eggbid closed.
Maybe it is just me, but I can't really keep up with who is bidding and what the bids are on the BYC BST. Total confusing to my brain this early in the morning or evening.

I usually checked BYC each morning and evening. It was my relaxation and chicken fix.
Plus I was able to learn so much.

Thanks for any advice.

I like FB because it is usually the quickest way to reach people. I know if no one is on the ASBC site, I can hit the ASBC group on FB and someone is usually there or gets back to me fairly quick.

Several people have tried to get a good chicken group going.....most of the time, questions are asked, answered, and then chatter :)

A couple of people are not liking the new auctions here because of no proxy bidding, so they have started a facebook group for auctions. And allow proxy bidding I believe.

Anyone not on that group can PM me & I will add you :)

I'm totally over this wind. Our stupid house was moving last night. And the trampoline that Santa brought us, that my husband had anchored to the ground in three places, is now in the pond in a bunch of pieces. My poor kids were heartbroken. There are days I hate this farm. Mostly the wind.

I am still having tons of trouble with this new BYC and I have adjusted my computer and changed as much as I can. It still bounces all over the place and is slow to take commands. There is way too much crap on here and too many duplicate ways to do one single thing.
And oh, how I miss the auction area! I hated selling on ebay but may wind up going back to there. It seems there isn't anything good left anymore on the Internet. I am so glad my website still pulls in enough business because the changes have not been good for me here or on any other sites.
I am trying to work with the new FB site (Thanks, Kimberly!) and maybe get some action from that.

Why can't it be easy like the old BYC?
Even with ads cut off I still see those ridiculous articles on the side. If I wanted to see them I have a way to get there to read them. No need to shove all this down my throat. I used to be able to navigate easily enough, now I have to take 3 or more steps to do one only took one step on the old BYC.
Yes, I'm an old grouch! I have never liked change. Good reason I have been married for 32 1/2 years.

Oh, ain't it the truth! The wind is my worse enemy on the farm, though I believe God has it in place to dry things out and remove dead branches from the trees.

I got up this morning to 3 doors on my coops blown open and one had the latch nearly ripped out of the wood. Amazing how that happened when I closed and latched them last night. I looked out and saw birds walking around in the grey morning and wondered what the ......you know, it all can get so tiring.

Funny thing is that our neighbors trampoline winds up over here sometimes in wind storms but mine (knock on wood!) has stayed put. Good thing since it has a nice quad of Mille Fleur Cochins under it. Mine is not anchored but it is down next to the barn and not up here on the hill.

Stupid wind!

Susanne, you need to plant trees - lots of trees. They will make a wind break and help in weather like this.

Well, this new forum is taking some getting used to. I haven't had much time to play around with it so I can't express an opinion yet really. YES, I HATE this wind too. It is Friday the 13th people, so watch out. It's been one of those days. I have a customer that didn't confirm his appt so I'm not sure if he's really coming or not. That makes me irritated as I can't plan my day around people who don't show up. I have a farmer's market tomorrow. Lots of things to do to get ready for that. I'm finally moving chickens into my new barn coop. There are 83 chickens in there now, it's nice and toasty warm today. I have about 50 more birds I'm going to move in there. They aren't real happy to locked inside but I know if I turn them out today they'll go right back to their old yards and I'm trying to encourage them to free range in the pasture. I'm hoping to use these cold days to get them used to their new home before I let them out. Do ya'll think a few days locked up is enough? And then I will only give them a couple of hours before dark when I do let them out. I sure don't want to have to move all of these birds again...and again....and again.
