How many times would you guys try getting shipped eggs before giving up? I know all about the gambles, but dh is not convinced the eggs will stop developing somewhere between day 1-21 because they were shipped. There are lots of other things that can go wrong during that time but if you really wanted a certain breed how many tries would you do? I am getting some from way off and 1 st try the po scrambled them, now I am on try two and I know there will be another. I am hard headed and not willing to give up yet.

I would not give up if you really want them...what breed is it that you are trying to get?? ( I know I could prob go back to see but I am in a lazy daisy mood today!

I have tried up to 5 times and gotten enough from those trys to at least start a breed. It is kind of a Christmas thing too--you get so excited when you get a few! I have done very well with some shipped eggs though and some eggs just do not ship well--example, guinea eggs have thick whites, thus they ship a little better than other, same as some breeds of chickens. At the same time some chicken breeds are very thin and do not ship well. I was trying to get a person to send me some RIR eggs from their birds and they said they just couldn't because past experience had shown them those bird's eggs did not ship well. The had other breeds that would do great but not the RIR's. I got some bantam eggs from Washington state this past summer and got an excellent hatch from them! It is totally up to how much you want to spend on eggs and what you are willing to try. It you purchase several batches and get nothing from the I would stop because they just might not ship well, but that does not mean all breed's eggs will do the same.

Hope my ramblings help a little....

So I have two Barred Rocks that are molting...IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. Bless them I know they are cold, oh and very sad looking. Anybody else has chickens molting in the middle of winter???

The d'Uccle coop and run is almost done. The flatscreen and heating/AC just got finished....

....Well don't laugh but they are use to having a TV to watch in the house, I thought it was only fair. Boy I will tell ya this, when they do go out, they are gonna think they have been set free compared to the large box they live in now!!!!! Hopefully next weekend will be their first adventure out!

Well I have had the same experiences.I have driven home eggs from about an hour away and none even developed.and I have had some from Missouri that did great.guess I am stressed. I guess you fail if you don't try anyway.thanks for the positive spin on it.I needed it.
