Hi! Just wondering if yall knew any flea markets or any livestock auctions where i can find so more chickens at. i found a couple in springfield this weekend but they werent too many there. i have tried the trader and craigslist but noone ever answers the phone....sigh! on a good note though me and my family just ate our first batch of fresh eggs from my chickens today. we made omelets and fried egg sammiches and they were awesome!

Sounds like you are really enjoying the fresh eggs! How totally great.
Be careful when buying from flea markets and auctions. That is where folks usually unload their sick or non productive birds. It would be best to buy from a breeder that has beautiful, healthy stock and you can speak with them long enough to figure out if they are really taking good care of their birds.
I just don't want you to get frustrated or disappointed with chicken owning.

Well, I just finished catching up on the thread. Good excuse not to got out in the cold!

Nikki, please tell us how you dog is doing. I have a hound cross that has seizures and I know how upsetting it can be. He has had them since he was a pup but only when he gets really upset and has not eaten.

Patsy, welcome back! I use to travel a lot for my job and really did not like it. I am so glad that is behind me -- not saying you do not like it. I got to see a good part of the US from my work travels. How are those Dorking eggs and chicks doing??

Also Tractor Supply is getting ready to have their chick days. I've heard only good things about them and their chicks.

There is a chicken auction in Timmonsville every saturday night, but you really need to be careful and watch what you are getting. A good bit of the time people are dumping off their unwanted chickens. Meaning problem chickens. Its really best to buy from a reputable breeder or someone you know.

That is at all the auctions I have been to. Some are just surplus birds, some are mean, some are sick.

It is always better to buy from a breeder.

Yancy does NOT look 40!!! He makes me look like I am in my 60s!
