Does anyone actually keep a thermometer in their brooder for chicks?

I do - I keep digital thermometers in the inside brooders with tiny babies. I have a big outdoor thermometer hanging in my greenhouse that I can check without opening the door. I also have heat in there connected to a thermostat so I can set it to keep a certain temp. It has been so worth the money I spent on it. I set it on 70 degrees and it keeps the temp within 3 degrees either way. Perfect for warm days and cold nights.

I think she is too white tipped. I have 2 others that are much better patterned and actually better shaped from my breeding, too. They are in a breeding pen with Ranger right now but their eggs are too small to set in the bator. I will probably just hatch from him and my blue Mottled.

I hope you get NPIP certified so you can get your own done.

:) It won't be an issue I don't think.

Nicole is selling her large ducks. Keeping Mallards & Runners only. Adding Calls sometime soon we hope. Guineas will probably go too. Not decided yet. Those dang girls are LOUD.

You can never tell about judges. Some may over look the too white tipped due to her type. :) Try and see. Doesn't hurt a thing to try it out.

That's the politics of showing that I would not enjoy.

It is really a pain to have such immaturity and drama. Its the whiney losers, in some cases, and in other cases it is the ones that do not even SHOW! I am like

You don't like it then improve yours~dont whine and complain

You all are welcome to show her and any others that you think will kick butt. I have several that are very show worthy but I just do not care to put that much effort into it. I breed what I like and it just comes out close to the standard sometimes. I love their type!

Amy this is my EE roo I got from you last spring.. Uncle Daddy.. didnt he turn out wonderful... he is such a good rooster I have him and a couple of girls out in the barn and they free range the pasture and the pond..

And before anyone can get their panties in a wad. DD would show her under the West Knoll Farm name. Not our names nor our farm names. Any placements would benefit Amy & West Knoll. Not us.

We will just do the minor stuff......bathing, transporting, entering.

My reason for saying this now....I have seen the reactions of some people over showing and who owns what and who bred what and such crap.

I wouldn't get my panties in a wad if someone thought so much about my bird that they offer to do the traveling and washing and grooming and such to show one of mine...WHAT a great compliment that is!!!! I would "hitch up" my big girl panties and say...Yep..Yessiree...I made that bird!!!
