This is a very rare breed "Ayan Cemani" Rooster. Not only are his feathers black, but so are his comb, wattles, beak, tongue, legs, and organs. They are from Indonesia.

That is THE strangest chicken that I have ever seen! Spooky is a good word for him. I would like to see one in person.

Lost my Tiny Self Blue OE last night...she has only ever laid me one egg and Friday she was in the nest box when we left for Newnan...when we got home Sat it was dark so she was on roost...Sunday she spent all day in and out of box and looked like she was straining and was all puffed out so yesterday morn I put her in a sink of warm water for half an hour with no luck. Then I put her in a crate on a warm pad and she ate and drank well. I had hope because she looked like she was feeling better but still no egg. Then at 4am she had what sounded like a seizure and by time I got to her she was passed. She must have been egg bound but I am not sure what I was feeling for trying to check. She was nice and meaty, clear eys/nose,no trouble breathing, and no sign of mites. I wormed my flock about 3 weeks ago.

I was told by a breeder that this was a problem to watch for when I bought my other gal who lays all the time...he talked me into a bigger gal of his so I would have a good layer since my guy is so small and I will sill get small chicks.....

Oh, You don't know!! He tried to tell me to get rid of my handtruck! But i refused. He wants to make room for more of his things and that means getting rid of mine. My solution is move to a bigger place (with more land and fewer neighbors.) I think it is a better solution than struggling with a single wheeled wheel barrow and fighting over whether to keep a handtruck. Besides I usually am the one that uses it as it is. I have had that wheel barrow for 6 years, he's only been around for 2!

Beieve me! If you say YOU will use it he won't complain

I don't think I like him very much. He gives me the willies.

My bator is on lock down with french cooper marans. I've been so sick lately but seeing eggs hatch makes me feel better. The problem is I'm running out of space. Then Amy displays another cochin and my mouth starts watering and my hand starts itching. OH! Man!
I told my husband that when I grew up, I wanted to be like Amy. I want to be a chicken wizard. To be able to make beautiful chickens. Amy you inspire me.

Oh. I didn't consider using my handtruck. I guess I should remember that for next time. I think because it is open on the back between the two bars i didn't really think about it. But i could always put a board or something.. Thanks for the idea!! :) We did use it the other day to move our coop and it was way easier than trying to lift and carry it across the yard!

Beautiful! I'm looking forward to see what you build from your hoarded material! About the wheelbarrow...when I was younger I just trecked everything around by hand too...it was easier on unstable land AND it kept me fit and trim (when I was younger LOL)...I just want to throw out there how much help a pair of handtrucks can be useful on unlevel ground...for dragging anything that can stack...on a bumpy surface! I drag stone, bricks, block, barrels of lots of stuff, wood, posts, fencing, etc...etc...I love my handtrucks! You can also scoop under small coops and runs and drag them...on and on and on...did I say I use my handtrucks every day and love them? They are my third and forth hand!
