d'Anver girl is doing great. I'm thinking the roo isn't going to make it. He seemed to be doing so much better for a while but hasn't been eating or drinking. When I tried to syringe him some water last night he absolutely freaked out. I thought he was having a seizure and was about to die. I'm not sure what his deal is...but he was still just sitting there looking at me this morning. I can't bring myself to put him down yet because I keep having the "what if he decides to get better" thoughts. Maybe he'll turn around. I have a definately plan of action for any future chicks/birds that come to live with me though. I will assume they have no built up immunity to coccidia in all cases...even adults. And I WILL NOT be using that particular tractor again being that it is the only place I've ever had an issue with it.

Good Day SC.

Our lonely chick is doing well so far. Getting spoiled. I moved the older hatch chicks to the barn in a stall. Need to get the Whelping box cleaned, so the solo chick and hopefully turkey poults will have a room. Turkey's go in look down today.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and busy. I have read but darn if I rememebr it was last night. I should have posted then.

LAuren, I sure hope those d'anvers are doing well and improving. I still havent heard back from MArk. SO now not sure if I will be getting a trio or not yet. I have another person that I am waiting for a call back.

Still waiting on the d'anver chicks. Hope to hear soon.

Have a great spring day. The weather is wonderful!

Lauren...I really hope lil man pulls through...

My day started out sad...I awoke to find my 2 1/2 week old WCB Polish chick dead in the brooder?!?! No sign of any trouble up to now?

Fed and watered everyone then off to work...came home and my beautiful 1 yr old WCB hen was just dead in the coop!?!?!?! I had just spent a little extra time there this morning looking and talking to them because of finding the chick...all seemed just normal and fine with them! Now the roo is freaking out looking everywhere for her since I got her out! I only had the pair and have been trying to hatch what few she would lay but only have a cockerel so far...I was sad over the chick but I am really heartbroken over the hen.

It has taken me forever to get caught up again! Welcome to all the new people on here. I hope all who are ailing are recovering well and the pollen isn't making everyone totally miserable. Lou Ann and I were in Atlanta last weekend with our office for a dental meeting and the pollen was at its peak there. We then got to come home just in time for it to reach its peak here! The chickens survived our being away. Her son is getting to be a pretty good chicken keeper. We may finally have time to get the run addition finished and some new girls added. What a crazy month March was!
I'm off to the hospital soon since Randy's dad ended up in the ER last night with an awful gallbladder attack. They were already doing some tests on him for it, but he got sick enough last night that they had no doubt what was bothering him. I could have told them three weeks ago! The symptoms were all right there. I'm just glad he will be feeling much better in the next few days.
Once I'm home, I am going to go spend some quality time with the girls. I have missed them lately.

Don't you have a Birthday coming up????

I picked up my older hens yesterday.

Sassy the Copper Maran

Petunia the Black Australorp

And Henny Penny the SLW

It's going to take a while for them to get used to us.

They are so pretty!
I can tell you an awesome way to make them love you.....live meal worms. Only my Guineas are too stupid to learn to come when called with them but they do get under foot and are friendly to me because I fed them meal worms while they were growing up.

Speaking of Guineas....I got my first egg from the chocolate pen today and plan to eat Guinea eggs tomorrow. If I can break them open.

Awesome on the guinea egg!!!

BION I tried mealworms and they were looking at the babies like they were fools. I had chicks on my shoulders and arms trying to get the worms. I threw a few their way.

Amy, I need to get some from you. How much are they?
