Thought I'd share a cute bit of my life......

My son Avery (will be 3 on April 6) is going through a phase right now about his food. He only wants to eat meat if it is chicken. So lately we have been having "chicken" steaks on the grill, "chicken"loaf (meatloaf) "chicken"burgers, "chicken"chops, and "chick roast" to name a few..... Now of course, these really aren't chicken but for now it works........ LOL. Tonight, we actually had chicken. Now, I wonder how he is going to react to eating chicken when the chicks are actually being called chickens!!!

Thanks guys for the complements! It was a lot of fun and a great time to spend with my dad. He has always been a diy-er and taught me as his eldest. Poor fella only had girls. I ended up being his project partner. I am so grateful for it. My DH isn't handy at all [though he is willing to try on occasion].

I picked up my big girls this afternoon. I kept the two groups separated most of the time. My smallest hen decided to try to tell the big girls who was boss of this coop. She was flapping up in their faces and attempting to chest bumping them. Until she had a firm peck from each. I forsee a step down for Oatmeal.

I got a SLW, BA, and Maran. The maran reminds me of a starlet. Everytime one of the chicks stares at her too long she tries to peck them. The SLW seems to have some maternal instinct and just shoves the chicks out of the way. BA seems good enough.

I have the "babies"crate in the hen house along with the big girls. I added a light tonight due to 40 degree temps and breezy weather tonight. Of course the "grown-ups" are not thrilled with the night-light!!!

Wish my just turned 3 year old was so easy to fool with the meat. She will only eat chicken but now you have me wondering if she associates it with the things running around in the yard?

It has taken me forever to get caught up again! Welcome to all the new people on here. I hope all who are ailing are recovering well and the pollen isn't making everyone totally miserable. Lou Ann and I were in Atlanta last weekend with our office for a dental meeting and the pollen was at its peak there. We then got to come home just in time for it to reach its peak here! The chickens survived our being away. Her son is getting to be a pretty good chicken keeper. We may finally have time to get the run addition finished and some new girls added. What a crazy month March was!
I'm off to the hospital soon since Randy's dad ended up in the ER last night with an awful gallbladder attack. They were already doing some tests on him for it, but he got sick enough last night that they had no doubt what was bothering him. I could have told them three weeks ago! The symptoms were all right there. I'm just glad he will be feeling much better in the next few days.
Once I'm home, I am going to go spend some quality time with the girls. I have missed them lately.

Good Day SC.

Our lonely chick is doing well so far. Getting spoiled. I moved the older hatch chicks to the barn in a stall. Need to get the Whelping box cleaned, so the solo chick and hopefully turkey poults will have a room. Turkey's go in look down today.

Sounds like everyone is doing well and busy. I have read but darn if I rememebr it was last night. I should have posted then.

LAuren, I sure hope those d'anvers are doing well and improving. I still havent heard back from MArk. SO now not sure if I will be getting a trio or not yet. I have another person that I am waiting for a call back.

Still waiting on the d'anver chicks. Hope to hear soon.

Have a great spring day. The weather is wonderful!
