I look forward to seeing ya'll there! I would love to have a few more Polish! Yours are absolutely beautiful and they are such a docile and sweet breed!!! The Polish are my first love!!! They are so pretty as a roo or a hen! Most birds - the male is the showy one and the female is plain but the Polish are showy and pretty either sex! I am thinking about bringing a couple pair of my cockerel/pullet White/Silver Dorking pairs to see how they do. I hide these as I have very few!!! They are rare and I got mine from an elderly man that has raised them for years and will not sell eggs or birds!!! Somehow he took a liking to me and let me get some hatching eggs ( as I begged and pleaded!!!)...he is sooo sweet and I am so lucky to have him as a friend and these from him since his are generations away from hatchery stock!!! I had an aweful hatch from the eggs in most people's opinions...I have 11 pullets and 19 cockerels! OMG...LOL... Maybe my farm name should be RooHaven??? LMBO

That sux...they were getting close to laying...I think!! They were mid Jans hatch so they should have been close...I wanted to see if egg color matched moms with them under the Amer roo!

Hello everyone! I got a chance to candle my call duck eggs that have been under my broody for a week now and they all have development. One has a blood ring I think but I left it alone for now. Tomorrow will be exactly one week so I think I'm going to give her a few chicken eggs to hatch so I don't feel sooo bad taking the call eggs from her right before they hatch. I just dont trust the rest of the chickens in there not to peck them to death. Plus she's in a nest box way up. I figure I may try to separate her and the chicks I let her keep before they hatch so they don't get hurt! She's such a good broody!

I finished school for the summer this week (YAY!) so hopefully I'll have more time to spend doing what I love...playing with my chickens and gardening!

Hooray! I am so glad to know those duck eggs are doing the right thing! I know you are too excited!
How sweet to give your broody some babies. Otherwise, I suppose she may sit there forever, waiting on air to hatch! LOL I hate when they nest high but at least that will keep some others out of her nest.
Terrific about school! I can't wait til ours is out here. With Leah driving now every morning is an experience!

Good luck on that hatch and enjoy the time with chicks and garden!
