Amy Sorry for your losses.
OMG I found another snake today. I almost stepped on it. Saw only back half of it go thru the lattice under my honey house. (half was 3 foot long) Another big one. We were not able to find it.
It took off fast. My big foot must have scared it as much at it scared me. LOL I put lots of moth balls and sulpher out around every where. My nerves just can't stand any more snakes.![]()
Hope everyone's Sat. is a good one.
Could she be laying in an odd spot? In the corner somewhere, underneath something or if she free ranges any could she be laying a new nest in another spot?i have a polish hen that refuses to lay. I sometimes move junk around and find an old nest. I really should clean up more often.
I had a hen singing yesterday and at first thought she was behind the barn. But nope, she wasn't back there so I went back around front and into the end stall where there is lots of "tools" (junk) and she was back behind some stuff, seemed like she could not get out but quickly jumped out when I moved stuff to see about her and there was her egg. Surprise! LOL I don't know that she was stuck but I was glad to find the egg since I have a new account and am hard pressed to have enough eggs to cover all my accounts lately. Every egg matters and when they hide them it is frustrating but free range eggs are free range eggs!
Could your Guinea hen be on a nest?
I have 2 girls sharing a nest right next to my house and another nest started by another Guinea hen right next to the ducklings grow up pen. I am glad my Guineas stay close when they nest.
Things will work out. Just hang on a bit longer. I am sure you will get it all done. It is great to have stuff offered. I just went over to Jackie's this morning and picked up a sheet of plywood and a bunch of wire for more pens. Now to find time to build with it! But it will be done. We just have to have patience.
does Niacin kill parasites?Hmmmmmm, is she molting?
The next best thing I can offer is plenty of oyster shell, add Niacin to her water and make sure she is parasite (inside and out) free.
Other than that, I know nuthin' 'bout them there polish birds.![]()
