No, Niacin is just a B vitamin supplement.
You can use ivomec (comes in many brands and names but the base word will be ivomec, ie; ivermectrin) and apply it to the back of the neck and under each wing. It will take care of external and internal parasites except for a few like coccidia and I believe, lung fluke.

Beautiful day. Hot day. Also did a head count - 35 silkies!!!
Had a blast with the kido's at school. Pleasantly uneventful afternoon with hundreds of elementary school kids. Just sun burnt :)

Amy, cats really? I guess I take for granted that my cats are sweethearts. The whole thing is gone? A cat would not eat the whole thing. Play with it till deth- yes. Knaw on it- yes. But id think there would b Feathers. If they did carry it off, it was to leave it on their owners steps as a gift. BUT, your neighbors arent that close AND it would have to climb a fence. Either way, sorry for your loss...

we've got a hawk that got at least one of my girls and then I had a second hen dissapear ( she had been sitting on her nest in the pasture next door ) and I found a puff of feathers the other day.. so sad... colton was in the woods the other day and came face to face with a very large. unafraid.. Coyote... not good when they arnt afraid.. unfortuantly he they coyote was on the neighbors land so he had to let him go..

my teenagers are getting big and my next age. I guesse they would be toddelers.. hahaha... they are growing but looks like 2 of my who knows what they are chicks are looking very very roo-ish... I got them from tsc.. they looked like little chickmonks. but so many breeds start out that way.. when they get up and start getting out of the gauky age I'll post pics to have a big guess off, of what they are.. All my chicks that I bought at the chickenstock are alive and well.. Had I known that they were gonna be there from the nc hatchery I would have waited and got all my chicks from them.. well except my barred Hollands I can only get them from Ideal hatchery.. it just kills me that out of 21 I have 4.. yup 4... ughhhh......I may try to order some more towards the end of may.. they really are my favorite. .

. I missed that they guy with the blue jersy giants wasnt there this spring chickenstock hopefully he will be there in the fall.. and I may be able to have some to traide. or donate.. as we have won chickens each year I would' like to donate a pair of mine for someone else to win.. I just love winning chickens.. even if i didnt really need them.. but Amy Nadine has taught me chicken math well.. haha... she and Sam,( dixiebeast) ha ha.. seams crazy that it was a year ago that i got my first chickens and met all these wonderul people here ... so glad I found ya'll..

and Im sorry again about he loss of your chicks.. .. I need a chick protector. too.. my dane will protect the chickens and Morgans ducks

I just had to share this with everyone.. My family and I were out in the yard working and I hear a sound coming from my backyard. We start to walk around there and I recognize the sound. One of our roosters crowed for the very first time today. We're not sure which one it is because he stopped crowing when we walked around to the coop, but I'm suspecting that it's our biggest BO rooster, Kung Pow Britt (I know it's a girls name, but we thought he was a girl at first) LOL.. I'm so proud of my boy.. He's growing up.. Some more good news..We've been debating on allowing our chickens to free range. We have been worried about the neighbor dogs, cats, and other various obstacles that are around our place. Today I tested the waters and allowed our BO and RIR chickens to come out of the coop and walk around the front yard. They were really excited to be out. We had no issues with dogs or cats. Even our dog surprisingly did not attack the chickens, he just walked up and looked at them and walked away (Yay).. I'm still a little concerned and may just test the waters a little more. Maybe we could only allow them to free range when we're in the yard so we can watch them.. Overall it was a good morning and the chickens really enjoyed themselves.. :)

We have Amy's white D'uccle here for Toby/Neopolian to keep him company, and she lays at least every day, only skips a day if she has laid 2 real close together. She is a very good girl about laying her eggs for me.

WHat great news. We only let ousr out to free range when we are home and around. The rooster has been really good about watching out and so he tells the girls when to get inside. I love watching a rooster comunicate with the hens. I have to say we keep getting a little braver about them being out and not down there, but our yard is completly fenced, so mostly it is a hawk concern during the day. Still dont trust it all, but at least they know how to get inside the coop fast and will hunker down under heavy woods if need be. Only concern we actually had a hawk sitting in a tree right over the coop, so not sure they are safe in the woods. I like it better if they can make it to the house.

I live in Kershaw County and I need to rehome some roo's, I have too many.

I have the following six week olds: 2 Blue Copper Marans, 1 Barred rock/Wheaten Marans mix, 1 Olive Egger boy (on the right in the pic with the two chicks), one 10 week old Production Red and one 18 week old Buff Orpington roo. They are all good boys, all hatched by me with the exception of the BO, which I got at one day old.

The little dude on the right is my Olive Egger. His mother is a full bred Ameracauna and his father is a Wheaten Marans. He isn't as scrappy looking now that he is filling out a bit lol.
